I disagree. They do have an incentive and it’s the morale of their partners and bad PR. Petitions have created lots of change at Starbucks over the years including a change of dress code, a decision to design a better cup, and recently there was a 38,000 signature petition that likely influenced the decision of corporate to close stores and offer catastrophe pay. Petitions DO actually work. And I’m sorry, I will “demand” that corporate pays us more than a couple bucks over minimum wage when they demand so much of us every single day. We’re always told to “move faster”, “try harder”, etc. on crap pay and increasing labor cuts. Don’t you think there’s a reason this has almost 18,000 signatures? Partners are tired of being worn out every single shift from the pressure put on us from management and short staffing. Customers are tired of seeing their favorite partners worn down and ready to throw in the towel. Target and many other companies have transitioned starting wages in upwards of $15/hour. Sure we get offered great benefits but not all of us want or need to utilize free college, etc. Many of us would rather be able to pay our bills and provide for our families instead. Starbucks isn’t just a “fast food, minimum wage job” when you look at all the expectations corporate has for us. For all the work we put in everyday, we deserve it.

I have a degree and am a salaried starbucks employee but I still support my fellow partners 100% to push for across the board wage increases.
