Why are posts on Karen plentiful on Reddit (self.starbucksbaristas)

I'm new to Starbucks Reddit.

Is the Karen meme actually true? I'm finding it hard to believe that people out there complain about things that I find trivial. Low on sugar? Go get some yourself. Wrong type of milk? Just get the right one next time. These things happen, big whoop, and I don't go back to complain nor do I \*see\* people do that. It's not anywhere in my world, so does Karen actually exist?

I DIDN’T WANT WHIP MAKE ME A NEW ONE WOCUWJWKDUEBWKAIB like realistically whip does not change your drink all that much it’s more aesthetic if anything. I also get confused when people ask us to use a milk alternative but to keep the whipped cream on the drink, I’m like that defeats the purpose but ok 😅

idk man i like soy milk better than any of the other milks, but i also really like whipped cream as it doesn’t upset my stomach but most real milks do. sometimes it just be like that 🤷🏼‍♀️

I ask for a alternative milk but keep the whip. The whip doesn’t hurt my stomach where as regular milk does. Also people might like the taste of the alternative milk more. It’s not just about being lactose intolerant.

Tbf I do the whip and non dairy thing bc I have somewhat of a diary tolerance and I'd rather use that ability on whip than milk 😳 that being said , some people get super bitchy abt it and it sucks

They are , but they all manifest in different ways. My most notable "Karen" is named Jake and will force you to remake his pumpkin spice latte if you make it in under a minute because he needs the foam to settle, because it's his "6 dollar drink and you should know how to take the time to make the right drink , i know starbucks trains you correctly..." sit the fuck down jake i have like 7 other drinks to make rn but okay, here you go because i know youll complain no matter what i do

Yup. Karen is the woman who doesn't like the way I waved at her and 'reports me'. Karen is the one who got a nasty drink at Tarbucks (a few days ago )and wants a free one from me. Karen is the one who jumps over the counter to wag her finger in my face because she thinks I live to poison her with foam on her latte. I hope you never meet her, but I'm sure you will and when you do you can post about it here lol.

I’m going on a year at Starbucks and honestly I don’t know if I’m oblivious or just lucky that we have a great customer base. I can count on one hand the number of negative interactions and I’d only call a couple of them a “Karen” situation.

I’m not saying those things don’t happen at other stores, I’m just saying it’s not a universal experience.
