thinking about going back (self.starbucksbaristas)

so last time I worked at starbucks was June 2019... thinking about going back only because I really need a job since graduating basically terminated my last job. I’m just wondering if you guys can tell me if it’s better or worse right now with only drive-thru open?

I see the longest lines sometimes 😐 which blows my mind cause I live in California and not many restrictions have been lifted.

SIDE NOTE: I don’t think Starbucks is essential at all, but any job that makes me money will be enough for me right now.

Jesus Christ don't do it. I promise there are other jobs out there.

Literally make it your job to find a good job! Starbucks culture is toxic and ugly.

lol yeah I’ve been applying to jobs in my field, but I’m honestly not sure how picky companies are being... unemployment doesn’t look like an option for me either 😫

Girl, go for it. In the meantime if you're that hard up financially, try your best to go part time at Starbucks. I found it incredibly tough to job search because Starbucks sets their schedules 3 weeks out.

Also be open to opportunities you wouldn't have considered. The best field I found was one I literally got on a whim and never thought I'd like; but turns out I love the work, and they love me and I'm good at it.

yess that’s what I hated about scheduling before. my boss was the worst and I’d always get scheduled super early on the weekends 😫 I was always freaking late lol

oh yeah I’ve been applying to the most random things, but I honestly loved being a barista. just hated cleaning the drains soo early.

Honestly? It depends where you are. Drive thru has been wild from open to close in my store but a friend on mine has a hand full of cars every hour.

If you go back to a crazy store it's staying crazy and getting worse. People who are slowly getting back to work still need their coffee, plus the people who are bored and cooped up all day equal a ridiculous line.

There are pros and cons. If youre used to a Café and drive store, its a bit easier to manage because youre only focusing on one end and its all hands on deck to grt drinks out on time. But, if one person complains or needs a remake or adds an order than EVERYTHING stops and is delayed. It's a give and take.

IMO the attitude of customers is getting worse which is far more stressful than the line itself. In the beginning peiple were cautious and sympathetic if maybe a bit unaware of the severity of it all. Now, everyone is so over it. They dont care. They dont want to be home and they will probably take it out on you.

A bunch of baristas are burnt out (myself included) and you can find a ton of vents on this sub that might help you make you decision.

That being said, as stressful as it may be, we are lucky to have a job and an income. It's though out here but not being able to pay your bills is tougher.

TD;LR: it's getting worse, hopefully not for long but it still beats not having an income imo

lol did you actually read my post? I’m asking if people think the drive thrus are getting worse for better due to lockdowns

Drive throughs are crazy right now. Personally I would shift to a cafe-only store. That’s where I am right now. It’s still crazy with the mobile orders and people demanding to make an order at the cafe instead of through the app, but it’s better than our store downtown with 20+ cars wrapped around from open til close.
