Work Injuries (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Hermione117
Ok so here goes. I got hurt at work on the 18th. My shift on duty told me to sit and ice my injury and see if i could keep
working. I could not so he said i could go home. I asked him about Filling out an incident report for me because my injury was so severe I cannot walk. Anyway he tells me to write down everything that happened on a paper with the date and time and my name. I did that, and then another barista who was off told me she would take me home (we are friends) because I couldn’t drive. When I was home my foot ended up being so swollen and hurting I thought it was broken and so I went to the ER for x-rays. Anyway the hospital gave me papers to take to work to have my manager help me fill out. I go to work on the 19th which was yesterday to get my manager to help me with the paperwork. My store manager ended up being out because she was sick but the same shift that was supposed to do the incident report was there. He told me that I needed to call PCC and talk to them. I ended up researching and finding Sedwick and no incident report has been filed. I filed one with all accurate information.

I am just confused because it was my belief that the shift on duty had to fill out all injuries and report them. Especially since my injury was so extreme. I am on crutches now for the next week and a half minimum and the ER only wrote me a three day doctors note. I’m confused what my next steps are, like Worker’s Comp., how I’m going to pay my ER bills, etc.

please if anyone knows what I should do or who I should contact for help please let me know.

sedgwick will handle all of it. Go home. charge your cell and rest your leg.

start calling tomorrow (after a good day of rest) and do not go back to the store.

Sedgwick is amazing, I had to use them years ago with a work comp claim for myself. They will handle it all, tell you what dr you can see and they will extend your drs note from the er. I hope you get healed soon!

that’s great to hear thank you!

no. You should have sick time to use - that protects you from any sort of repercussions
