an update to the POS that we actually need (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by lizzybeth722
it would be soooo helpful to have a confirmation pop up when you try to sell a food item that's marked unavailable on the POS.

"Item Unavailable. Continue?"

just think about how much time it would save when you accidentally sell something that's unavailable and have to get the customer something on the fly.

You should patent the idea before starbucks takes it.
NOTcreative- 29 points 3y ago
Patents are for inventions. Not ideas. And if anything developers of the POS it would be a bug or improvement. They should submit the idea to Starbucks so that all partners can have this. Even if they made the idea exclusively their own, how would they market it or sell it?

As a server, my favorite feature on our restaurant’s POS was the ability to have an item count. Shift notices there’s 5 butter croissants and adds a count to it. A tiny number 5 appears in the corner of the croissant button. Each time you sell one it automatically counts down. Eventually the system puts an X over the button, so if you go to ring one, “Oh I’m sorry, it looks like we’re sold out of that item at the moment.” Impossible to accidentally ring one up. Why doesn’t Starbucks do that?
star_pants 15 points 3y ago
Probably because it's all available through mobile and uber as well, and uber takes like 30 minutes to update so then Starbucks would have to either cut them off (and thus lose possible sales) or it wouldn't be accurate anyways.

Yeah, that makes sense.

They need to add an option that'll allow customers to tip in-store w/ a credit card.

That and a kid's temp button. I hear you.
lizzybeth722 [OP] 51 points 3y ago
we use the "warm" button for kids temp drinks
ihateyousoymatcha 1 points 3y ago
We've got regulars (adults) who ask for tepid, not kids temp.
On the Mastrena II, there is the default temp and 3 different options, 2 of which are less hot.

It's lead to some irritated customers \\(-_-)/

‘Warm’ is the new kid’s temp button. They changed that a while back. We also still have the ‘steamed’ button, but they moved that to the page with the cup customizations (I.e. for here/dry/wet/double blended/etc.).

Warm->Steamed->Extra Hot

We used to have a kids temp button a few years ago, they took it away and replaced it with the "warm" button

My store has the new mastrena too but I think we just didn't tell the customers about that button, haha!
ihateyousoymatcha 2 points 3y ago
There's a few who complain if they get kid's temp (1steam line), so we've just started putting it in an Ask Me.
Sometimes I suggest they ask for a specific temperature since we can do that manually

And it isn’t too difficult to code that in into our system. Might take a few sessions to field out any errors, & we would probably find bugs in real time for the first month or so, but the hardware is there to support this idea. We already take inventory count too!

When I go to a local coffee shop with their fancy tablets they spin/flip around for me to add a tip and then think about the slow cluttered POS system we have I feel like Im in a broken down Mom N Pop shop.

We're just missing a crazy dishwasher thats off his fucking rocker.

I actually submitted this idea a few months back! For that contest they were conducting with partners submitting ideas.

It would truly be a game-changer! Glad to see other partners are thinking the same!

Great minds think alike, I mentioned that to my SM a couple months ago and he said it’s a good idea and I should submit it through partner hub. I think you should do it because I imagine it would save Starbucks money and partners and customers frustration. I’m a little lazy so I’ll let you guys do it :P

You should submit to partner perspectives! I love it.

I work at Starbucks Singapore and recently my branch implemented it and it saves me. Especially during peak when there's a lot of screaming going on.

This is also helpful for the reverse. So many times I'd go to mark something sold out and find half a dozen things that we have that just never got unmarked, meaning we'd have potentially lost sales from mobile orders
