Hey y’all! I’m going back to work after being on CAT pay since my cafe store closed at the end of March. I recently applied for unemployment and got paid for the two weeks after my CAT pay ended, but I wanted to know if someone was going through this as well or knows what will happen next. I have been told that UI benefits stop paying as soon as you go to work, but my hours are being severely cut. Would I still be able to finish the rest of my payout claim to support me while my hours were drastically cut? Or would it stop because I started working again? Please let me know if any of y’all are dealing with this as well! I don’t think I’ll be able to live off of three shifts a week but I heard there’s a mandated cut of work hours in effect 6/1.



I’m also extremely nervous because my partners have been saying that it’s been really busy and I feel like I’m totally not ready to hop back into the swing of things (our store frequently breaks $3000 a day— even if we are just a cafe store, we’re by a lot of businesses and hospitals). I feel like I’m not gonna remember anything once I get back on bar but hopefully adjusting from sitting on my ass for a month and a half to hauling ass on bar isn’t so bad. One of my partners said that the spirit of the barista will awaken.... so let’s see hahaha :-)
