i have a question about promoting (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by alerollerblades
hi so i have worked at the company for almost 2 years now while i was in high school and now through my first year of college. i have bounced around to about 3 stores because i went to college outside of my hometown and now i’m at a different store than my original one that hired me. i have decided that i want to try and promote to a SSV but my only problem is i am transferring to a new store next month and i’m not sure who the manager is or if they are going to need shift supervisors and things like that.

basically i just need some advice as to how to bring it up once i transfer. should i ask right off the bat and tell them that it is a goal of mine to become a shift or would it be better to wait a while until i am comfortable and used to the store?

I would let your current SM know ASAP so you can start a PDP. And also let your new SM know about you wanting to promote and let them know that you started a PDP, what you are currently working on (coaching, standards, etc) and talk to the new SM about your goals, your plan, possible timeline, etc. Show your effort and work hard :) good luck!

I would always tell your manager your goals and wanting to promote as soon as you want that. It effects your pdp and if they know that, you’ll be on their radar for advancement. Don’t wait for it, try and go and get it!
