"Reduced" benefit hours to help us in this time....(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ocdthrowaway68
While they cut our hours with no remorse, to help they "reduced" our hours need to maintain benefits. Guess by how much? From 520 to 510(or for newer hires from 240 to 230).

Are you fucking kidding me? I'm getting 6+ hours less a week and you think taking 10 hours off what I need to hit benefits is going to help me? Jesus fucking christ the IRONY finding this out after that bullshit "we're in this together, this is why we're essential" meeting we just had. jfc this company sometimes. perfect time to sign up for ASU...

It’s almost like it would be beneficial to Starbucks to cut as many people as possible from benefits without actually having to say that is what they are doing...wow but everyone says Starbucks is so good to them as an employee! (Do not have enough eyes to roll)
So many partners are going to lose one of the primary reasons to work for Starbucks. I wonder how the sycophants will spin it...

Ok I’m sorry but I totally don’t understand why they’re cutting hours. I read that letter Kevin sent out and it was just words without any meaning

You have to read the coded language is the problem. Word salad like that actually has a lot of meaning they just code it extremely well to cover their asses and be able to backtrack. Pretty typical for a lot of companies.

CEO-ese is actually its own language. Very few people speak it but they have an unreasonable amount of clout

It's just been changed to 450 hours

They are going to reduce the benefit hours even further from 510. Have no idea how much or if it’ll help... I believe the announcement will come this week.
particularBillarina1 points3y ago
How do you know this?
kmoney16311 points3y ago
If you have a workplace account, you can stalk what the corporate people say lol. A lot of store managers have been asking about us and are concerned about our benefits getting taken away. I’ve seen more than one higher up person comment and say they are working on the solution. They are releasing the announcement along with 90 day LOA.

An unpaid loa where you cannot collect unemployment helps no one sigh. God forbid they furlough people and allow unemployment.

We'll see...

The ONLY reason I work is for benefits. My husbands are double what ours are so my little $2 paychecks don’t do much for us but the health, dental, and vision and ASU help us out. I’ll what will happen if I lose my benefits, maybe be a stay at home mom and work from home? Idk I’m so stressed out, the first 2 weeks back I was like 44+ hours, now I’m 30 and going down from there.
ocdthrowaway68 [OP]2 points3y ago
you only need 20 hours to make benefits...
JCaligirl4201 points3y ago
I know but the way they keep dropping them I’m afraid I’ll get below, my store slows down I’m the summer months and I’ve lost my benefits before because I was getting 15-17 hours a week at most.
