r/skincareaddiction has done a few threads on this. I’ve found that washing my face at lunch with a cerave towelette helps. So do regular clay-based face masks at home. I’ve accepted that I’m going to just have a little extra acne for a while.

Thanks!

Thank you!

I’m not getting acne but my nose ring is constantly irritated because of all the humidity and rubbing. Not ideal for a new piercing
steam_rolls17 points3y ago
My piercing isn’t that new and it’s still getting slightly irritated by being rubbed so much.
ashley4414 points3y ago
i’ve had my piercing for 3 years and i’ve started doing salt water soaks with tea tree again because it’s getting irritated. i started doing the soaks once i get home from work and right before bed. i’ve noticed a huge difference, especially with the tea tree!
umeganmecrazy2 points3y ago
This is such good advice!! I’ve been debating using tea tree since it can be a little too aggressive but I probably will now
MikeB-7273 points3y ago
Yea mine is super irritated after a shift I find doing warm salt water rinses daily before bed helps
golden_pinky2 points3y ago
Damn, that sucks.
PoppyPancakes30 points3y ago
I bring an acne toner to work every day and clean my face in each break
I have acne to begin with but the mask just makes it so much worse
jesscrum17 points3y ago
I saw on the news that cloth masks with dark ink fabric on the inside, especially blue ink, causes more irritation and acne and white fabric causes the least irritation
monikitiki985 points3y ago
The white should be against your face
coffeecat79187 points3y ago
Some stores didn’t get ones with white, we only got plain black.
monikitiki981 points3y ago
Ours were the black cloth ones at first
quanday12315 points3y ago
I was in the process of growing a beard when this hit and all that humidity increased the acne around my mouth and nose tenfold. Had to shave all of my progress :(

I pat my face with a paper towel after I get off and when I get my 10 so the sweat doesn’t dry on my face and make me break out
hopelovepeace338 points3y ago
YES!!! I literally NEVER break out & ever since I had to start wearing the mask at work I’ve been breaking out all over my chin from sweating so much with it on.
JCaligirl4206 points3y ago
Yes and I bought my son some face wash and I’ve been using it, it’s been helping so far. It’s Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing and it’s been wonderful. He’s 13 so he’s at that age and it’s actually clearing both of our skin!
RyderDie19994 points3y ago
I thought I might be the only one. I've started growing my facial hair from my HRT so my skin is already irritated by that but the mask is killing me
crzyshiba3 points3y ago
I can say that I would never break out but when I started worked at starbucks I would get some light acne around my forehead from the hat then once we had to wear the mask uhh forget it lol I broke out on my chin around nose so I decided to get into a skin routine and bought lush products they aren’t cheap but for me it works wonders
washAndCut3 points3y ago
Been breaking out along the lower cheek area and by my chin because of it..but also I just started getting on Accutane so that might also be it 😬 honestly I’m kinda thankful for the mask, been hiding my acne so well so my eyebrow game can steal the show 😏
queen-nugget1 points2y ago
Make sure to moisturize really good where your mask is while on accutane! A lot of people are having issues with their skin barrier being damaged
Deeeeeevvvv3 points3y ago
I use Soap and Glory t zone scrub on the area my mask sits! It works wonders for my skin
BarelyExplained3 points3y ago
no breakouts *knock on wood*, but it has been considerably itchy all around my mouth.
monikitiki983 points3y ago
No breakouts here. Maybe it's just the material and/or humidity causing it
hopelovepeace333 points3y ago
Well I live in Florida so that’s always the case LOL we are never not humid in my state 😂🤣
JCaligirl4203 points3y ago
Oklahoma here, and it’s storm season so I get this. The other day I almost passed out from the heat, the mask, and the humidity. That sounds like a movie title 😆
hopelovepeace331 points3y ago
Omg I literally feel like I’m going to suffocate by the end of my shift
ptvsupernatural3 points3y ago
i’ve been breaking out a ton more especially around the nose area
Tr1ll4_2 points3y ago
I usually carry 2 masks in a ziplock. One thing I do is carry some baby wipes with me. When I take my mask off at work during lunch after eating / drinking, I will use a baby while to clean off some of the bacteria from the mask. Let dry. Then replace with a new mask.
This has been working for me. 👍
golden_pinky1 points3y ago
Hey thanks for the reply! I've actually been doing this, too and it made a world of difference. I also added salycilic acid to my routine and a toner and stopped picking at my face and it's back to normal now.
deeperdead2 points3y ago
Me too, I have a lot of acne
holdenthesecoronas2 points3y ago
yes. i do not feel cute lol
nofoam_cappuccino2 points3y ago
Yes! I’ve been just leaving my pimple patches on under my mask when I go to work.
AnnaRenae2 points3y ago
My acne is way worse. I get cystic acne on my chin and it’s so much worse now
barista13xxxxx2 points3y ago
the masks destroy your face
SkylerSayys2 points3y ago
I'm getting it along the edge of my lower lip specifically and it hurts so bad to eat rn. Stopped using the provided masks and got my own and its slowly getting so much better
moonlitsymphony1 points3y ago
Cerave foaming cleanser for normal to oily skin (it’s good for all skin types), a salicylic acid serum (if your skin isn’t too dry, this can be too much for some. I like the derma e one), and a good moisturizer will SAVE you (I like the cerave moisturizers, they have one for every skin type). I’m not a professional but I’m a big skincare junkie and I used to work for Sephora. I learned a TON.
kattsmeow171 points3y ago
Yep my acne has gotten so much worse. It's helped a bit to wash my face just before work.
avbzz1 points3y ago
i had to switch to a different mask than the one they give us at work because my face just couldn’t handle it. i still get some acne but it’s not as bad as before
