story time because i am beyond frustrated with customers sometimes :) (this is a TRENTA rant, with extra mf ice) (self.starbucksbaristas)

so there’s this lady who always comes to our store and every single time she tries to con us in some way. i’m kinda new at my store so i’ve only seen her twice, but i’ve heard PLENTY of stories.
first time she came in my dt, i was on window, and she told me she should have a free drink because she should be written “in our book” (why do customers think every place has ‘a book’) and she spoke with a ‘manager’ on the phone but of course she didn’t know the name so she said she’d probably remember her when she saw her. i went and grabbed my ssv cause she’s great, takes no bullshit, i love her, and she was like ‘we don’t have you written down for anything’ and this lady tried to claim it was over a month and a half ago that her drink was made wrong, so she should have a free one now. everyone at my store knows this lady and knows she’s always trying to lie to us. so my ssv was like ‘we don’t have you written down for anything, but even if it was that long ago we really can’t have customers coming in that long after to get their free drink. i’ll give it to you this time, but i just can’t have you do that again’ and this lady started trying to argue and YELL at my ssv about how ‘there needs to be some sort of standard’ and how my ssv was probably making all the other cars mad because SHE was holding up the line (as if you being a customer trying to fight after you’re being given a fee drink is on US???) and eventually she left. she did all this over literally, get this, a tall iced americano. couldn’t tell you the exact price of those but i know they’re around $2-3. and then she had the AUDACITY to come back again yesterday when i was on window again and she had some sort of coffee pods and said they were no good, and she wanted to exchange them. i went and asked my ssv because i know we’re not supposed to take stuff in through the window rn, and she confirmed that for me, so i went back to the customer and told her i wasn’t able to do that for her at the moment, but that my asm would be in the store on monday and she could give her a call then to get this figured out for her. she IMMEDIATELY started yelling at ME (IM JUST A BARISTA. I DONT MAKE RULES) and was like ‘no. no. what’re we gonna do about this then? no.’ (... i told u what ur gonna do. ur gonna call my asm on monday.) and i literally walked away from the window cuz i have clinical anxiety, i cannot handle being yelled at. i let my other ssv talk to her cause she clearly wasn’t gonna listen to me. (deadass had to sit there for a second and take deep breaths cuz i was gonna have a panic attack) and my ssv proceeded to giVE HER SOMETHING FOR FREE AGAIN???? WHY???? customers are like dogs, if you reward them when they treat us like this, theyll just do it again!! they’ll think they have to escalate it to that level to get their way, and they’ll do that!! they’ll go to that level every time, if it gets them free stuff. and idek why she wanted to exchange the pods cause she said they weren’t good but they weren’t expired, so she probably just didn’t like the flavor of them, so idk why she wanted more of the same one?? my guess is that she put the empty pods back in to fool us cause she literally cons us all the time. anyway, i’m just so frustrated cuz i shouldn’t have to have anxiety before i go in to my shifts at work because of assholes like her. i wish my managers would start filing incident reports every time like her so we could ban her from our store. :/// thanks for reading if you did lol. thought some baristas might get a kick out of how ridiculous she is.

hey there! i’m so sorry that is consistently happening to you and also i get the frustration of when SSV’s give in to the customer and give them what they want. we actually just banned a guy we disliked bc he cussed at us to give him the fucking coffee for free so thankfully we rid of one guy and i hope that can happen for you. it’s so ridiculous for you to be on edge for a customer. idk how your shifts are but i would suggest telling a shift like yo if that person comes i personally can’t handle the confrontation that they always put the drive window person on therefore if someone can cover me or just don’t put you on window. regardless i’m so sorry i’m positive you’re doing gr8 and there’s plenty other people that appreciate you as well as me, i promise!!

thank you!!! i appreciate it a lot. if i’d known it was her, i probably would have jumped off the window right away, we have a few customers that everyone at my store knows and they pull me off the window right away when they come lol. but i remember her for sure now cause she mobile ordered the fucking pods she wanted to exchange so i saw the name on it. she also has rlly bad lip filler so i cant forget that :-) lmaoo. but tysm!!

So mad you were treated this way.

Just an FYI anyone can fill out an incident report, baristas, SSVs, etc. It's just an app on the Ipads.

thank you so much! i’ll probably look at filing one next time i go in for a shift. it just really sucks cause i’m literally a kid and it’s not okay with me to have my anxiety spiked every single day right now because of how customers are. :///

There is a shift at my store who gives the customer whatever they want so they won’t have to deal with them. I will not. I always say I’m not rewarding their bad behavior. I will straight up tell a customer that they aren’t getting free stuff because they yelled at me or cuss me out. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would love to be a shift at your store for a day. I refuse to let customers treat my crew like shit. They better not yell, cuss or talk down to any of them cause I talk back. I’m not disrespectful about it BUT I’m not afraid to let them know what’s up. My team always tells me how grateful they are that I stick up for them.

usually i have a few ssvs who do! i’m super grateful for them cuz i will not stand up for myself, way too much anxiety lmao. but my ssv who will stand up for us wasn’t the one who dealt with her, unfortunately. i’m not entirely sure what the ssv who did handle her even said, i was hiding lmao

A little repetitive at this point, but I’m a lead at my store and after multiple incident reports on a similar situation we finally got a lady restricted from all Starbucks in our district. If you have a trusted lead, have them do it. If not, incident reports can be done by anyone from the stores iPads. Best of luck, sorry you had to deal with this lady!

thank you!

Yo that’s hella annoying for sure and she’s definitely wrong but like....what do you mean your store doesn’t have a book? Every store should have a DRB (Daily Records Book)
th1snightissparkling [OP] 2 points 3y ago
we do have that!! i think what i meant is that she wasn’t written in our book at all, but tried to claim that she was
