Anyone else have a store opening for "grab and go" that is really disregarding most saftey concerns and just does not feel ok about it? (self.starbucksbaristas)

We are not following the guidelines Starbucks put out, because we cant afford the labor to do it. We are not allowed to require masks, even though our state does. There is serval points where we will be well within 6' of customers with nothing between, we only have a shield in front of the register (which is two together with a small opening right down the middle that we cant seal) and one at handoff.

Our stores layout makes it so a customer at one of the shields, is within 6 feet of workers (and all of our equipment) in other directions that the shield will not cover.

I really don't feel good about this starting tomorrow. Is anyone else dealing with issues like these?

The partners in my store are concerned and doing everything carefully. The thing that worries us is customers. Many don't care and think corona is a hoax, or may have good intentions but just don't know how to be safe.

The DM talks about how were getting a "special" Covid cleaning every week, but one customer coughs in our store and it undoes that cleaning. We have customers who pull down their mask to talk to us, and we're just like no, put that over your mouth.

This is my concern exactly. We've been mobile order only with pickup at the door. Half the people don't wear masks and half of those that do pull it down to talk. Opening the loby seems unnecessarily dangerous. We were told specifically by our DM we are not allowed to tell a customer to put a mask on...

Where I am I'm glad that it's the law that customer must wear a mask. They're not allowed in the door without one. And the DM is making us enforce that rule because the health department has been shutting down and fining businesses that don't enforce it.

Its also law in my state, but we were told it "isnt in our best interest" to tell someone they need to wear a mask

Edit: This is to the extent that 2 othet shifts made fun of me for expressing concern and one of them said masks are pointless and no one has to wear them.

Yea it’s weird when own partners feel like it’s not a big deal. It’s too bad “it’s not in our best interest” because some people will throw a tantrum and likely will act aggressively.

I don’t like that they’re going to come into an enclosed space — cough, sneeze, breathe out possible virus particles and we have to work in that environment long after they leave.
