If someone asks for a tea or a refresher blended do you put the creme base in it? (self.starbucksbaristas)

No you just blend it as it is

No, only recipes already with base get it, otherwise it throws off the texture and the nutritional facts.

Not automatically. I always ask, especially when it’s with lemonade. Some people just saw it online and they want to know what the base is for and they may or may not want a little sweetness and smoothness with their drink, so I always ask. However, I know of other partners at my store that do just add it without asking. Sometimes we have people return the drink, other times we don’t.

But I don’t ever want to just guess what someone wants because I genuinely like making weird drinks, especially blended refreshers, they’re so mesmerizingly beautiful sometimes. I do get in trouble for taking the time to educate customers and ask a million questions, but I don’t really care. I know what it’s like to have anxiety about ordering an unknown drink, so I don’t want people to be like me and forcefully drink a horrible drink because they’re too afraid to ask for a remake. Now... if you ask me to remake your latte because it had micro foam... that’s a different story, I definitely am annoyed at the fact that 1cm of foam will destroy your day. lol

I appreciate this!! I’m a new partner and I’m still getting to know our regulars and some of the drink recipes. I do tend to ask customers questions when they customize drinks (like do you want lemonade in your refresher, or do you want classic syrup as well with your 2000 syrup additions), especially when it’s slow and I have time to put the order in just right. And another partner got into me for it the other day saying I was confusing people. Then the next day a shift got on me for not asking enough specific questions when we had a line around the store. I was like huh??? How am I supposed to read minds but also not? 😩

Oh. It is most definitely something that any partner gets yelled at either way. But the longer you’re working with someone, you’ll learn how they like the shift to be run. Everyone knows I will repeat the order and/or suggest stuff, so they just let me be. Lol

The other day my sm told me to go faster and not repeat the order, and I’m like.... uuuhhhhhhhhhh.. it’s going to be a mess but whatever you want. And it WAS a mess, almost every car either asked for a remake or asked for something else. The shift on the floor asked me why drinks were being returned, and all I said was, “well, they told me to just keep the line moving and not repeat the order so....” everyone was annoyed, but if anyone above me tells me to do it a certain way, even if I know it’ll end up bad, I just do it, they’re supposed to know more, so it could also be a teaching moment. I know people come to Starbucks for that perfect drink “they” came up with, but they don’t know that an iced coffee comes sweetened by default. We don’t know that they want to keep the whip cream when they change milks on frappuccinos, etc. We ask a million questions for a reason.

I absolutely ALWAYS teach green beans to ask every question. If it comes up on the screen as modifiers, double check the person is ok with it.

No, but I do offer it to them if they want a smoother consistency. About 75% of the time they get it with base.

We do at my store, but it's usually the same 2 or 3 people who order this and they akresdy add other modifications that load it with sugar. We usually ring it up with cream base on the ask me.

The only time I for sure don't is when someone asks for an iced coffee, because they are typically trying to avoid the sugar in a frap. But those usually have heavy cream added as well so it blends a little better.

Nope. Not unless they ask specifically, which they never do (unless they are a barista).

Most of the time you don’t need the base if it’s a refresher based drink because there’s more than enough liquid to keep it loose.

I have one lady that gets an iced americano with syrup and a splash of milk and has us double blend it because she says it stays good longer without separating and getting all watery.

I don’t. Unless I can charge them as a strawberry frap and add a bunch of the inclusions and extra syrups to jack up the price. 😈
