How to handle shitty management for disobeying coronavirus protocol?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by thefantastictoday
One of our shifts was possibly exposed to coronavirus. During training before stores opened back up we learned that in the event of potential exposure, an entire block has to self isolate for two weeks as to not spread the virus. My SM is only forcing the partner who may have been directly exposed to self isolate, while allowing the block to continue working. The SM is also interacting and working with all blocks, asked a shift from one block to cover their original block and the exposed block, and refuses to tell the other partners what is going on - the partners in the exposed block don’t even know why their shift won’t be at work for two weeks and the SM says they are not required to disclose if someone in the store is exposed or infected. Supposedly the district manager is on board with all this. Who do I report this to?

Thank you so much for this! I’ll definitely contact our DM today. I was more worried about what would happen if they brushed me off (which has happened to other partners before for unrelated issues), so thank you for explaining next steps if that happens!

Talk to your DM and tell the partners in that shift’s block. Your SM is messing up and I’m a time like this that can’t fly.

Honestly if that partner has potentially been exposed, then so has the block. Because IF that partner contracted COVID, they might not necessarily show symptoms but could have been a carrier while they worked with you all. So if things don’t go hot with the DM you could try explaining that by being in contact with that person, you all are technically “potentially exposed”.

Exactly! We tried that and the SM didn’t listen.

If the DM doesn't care, then call ethics and compliance and partner resources.
