Quit Starbucks but want to come back? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by throwmeawayafte
So I quit Starbucks December 2019. Ive since then moved to another bigger city and am hoping to obtain a job at a Starbucks here.

The thing is, I left my old job at Starbucks on bad terms.. my manager was not kind nor mental health friendly and I couldn’t stand being there another day. I know it was wrong, but I handed in a note of resignation and never came back. I didn’t even stay for my shift. I later received a text reprimanding me for my actions. There were multiple times at that Starbucks where I had to deal with my mental health, or take a second to breathe and I was not allowed that moment. Multiple of the shift supervisors have yelled at me while I was having an anxiety attack. These are the reasons that I had to leave so quickly.

Now, other than those 3 or 4 people, working at Starbucks was the most fun I’ve had at a job. I loved being a barista! I want to get back into it now but I’m not sure if there is a permanent file or something within the managers that has negative feedback on me. I’ve applied at one Starbucks with no response and now I’m not sure if it’s even worth it to apply at any more. There’s a location just down the street from me that I would love to work at but I’m not sure if they will be able to get past anything in my file or anything that my manager could have passed along.

Does anybody have any information on this? Any advice on how to get back into a job at Starbucks? Should I go for a job that is within a store instead?

Call PCC and ask if you're rehireable.

If you are, then just apply again.

If you aren't, you're not out of luck. Be extremely quiet about leaving with no notice. If they ask then you need to explain how it's not going to happen again.

If you aren't and you apply to a licensed store, that iss the one thing people ask your old employer. Are they rehireable. It's not impossible to overcome, and honestly depending on your age/work history you could probably just leave it off and say you were focusing on yourself or taking care of a family member.

I've heard there's a training freeze right now. Unless you're moving to an area that has put COVID-19 far behind them, you'll likely be unable to find a corporate job.

I left on kinda bad terms (two weeks after a no-call no-show fucked my transfer) and came back

I did a lot of grovelling on my own accord because I really wanted to come back. “Quitting Starbucks was the worst decision I ever made. I was young and dumb. Please take me back.”

Starbucks can be shit but it’s a damn lot better than most foodservice tbh.
