This is a pretty touchy subject but for those who watched the pour over sessions, I felt a really huge tug at my heart while sitting through it.(self.starbucksbaristas)

I understand Starbucks wanted to get a conversation going about law enforcement and the sacrifices they make to keep us safe but there was a huge elephant in the room that was not properly addressed especially during this time. The one office who said they will always “haters” and people who will have negative opinions about police. They went over mass shootings and said nothing about police brutality. It might have been too serious for the topic but I felt like they didn’t address it properly. Especially as a black partner, I felt uneasy the whole shift. What are your thoughts on this?

Wait hold up WTF, how could they leave out police brutality? How convenient for them. Wow. Especially in these times. You have every right to be upset.

Exactly! I was waiting for that discussion but it never came. I was very disappointed :(.... they didn’t even have to say a lot but at least denounce the acts certain officers have commit towards marginalized people.

I think it is incredibly shady for them to just conveniently leave that out. Im very very disappointed. EXACTLY like maybe at least say that although some bad acts have been comitted by cops not all of them are evil or w/e (😑) but to not mention it? Does not sit well with me.

just want to jump in right now (going on midnight EST as i'm typing this) to say i'm well proud of how this thread has been going, y'all! This is a super touchy subject, please remember not to be ridiculously hateful/aggressive, especially if disagreements rise! we stan civil discussion - if this post gets bigger it will attract people seeking out threads on this topic just so they can troll/argue.
Stay strong and stay safe y'all

The cynic in me knows that Starbucks is pushing this because they want to stop negative news stories about cops in starbucks.

It’s complete BS and shameful to continue it during this particular moment. I haven’t had to yet but I refuse to participate in it

Oh man you bet your ass when I have to take this training I will bring that up to my DM. I have no filter and it deserves attention.

I agree. The longer story that was told by the woman cop (not going to mention content specifically for triggers) made me a little emotional but it also seemed to only be about the cop and it made me feel a little strange. I was also very upset with how suck up-y it was towards cops, especially considering how police brutality is so rampant. Makes me feel like I have to appreciate a system that is supposed to keep society safe, but fails every single day.

afaik there's no rule against content on this board.
i wish starbucks would stop with their propaganda and stick to business.
