Morning food count/pastry/sandwich pull order? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by cyan_reynolds
Hey guys, I rarely work mornings and I literally can't remember what order to do the pull/food count. Any help would be appreciated!

In my store, the closing shift does the in freezer count before they do the pull because there is the possibility of the opening shift needing to pull some extra stuff after the AM pull in case they sell out.

My store gets sandwiches fresh so I can’t help you there but we also do not do a count before we do the AM pull because we found that it wastes time and we always run out of food that way.

The way that pars are set up the AM pull is half of what the daily par is. For example if the daily par is 20 butter croissants then the AM pull will say to pull 10 but if we counted the pastries beforehand and we had 10, then the pull would say 0. On the other hand, we count the food before the PM pull because the PM pull is the full par. It wants 20 butter croissants and if you have 5 on hand it’ll ask you to pull 15.

Also when you do your pull early, late, or not at all, the iPod/ims will record this and the DM will send a monthly report to your SM

Do your AM count first, then that gives you the amounts to pull for the AM.

1. AM pull to thaw count --> AM pull
2. in freezer count
3. PM pull to thaw count --> PM pull
4. out of freezer count.

The ipod will tell you if you're doing things too early, or too late, but you can just ignore those messages.

In freezer count should be accurate at EOD. If you count the freezer, then pull from it, the count is no longer accurate as IMS will now think there’s more in the freezer than actually is, which can affect pastry orders. All pulls should be completed prior to in freezer count. AM shift is only responsible for AM pull, no counts.
