Something sounds fishy. "A precautionary measure" sounds like possible COVID exposure.
I mean they wouldn't close three stores because someone stubbed their toe. KWIM?

It could precaution because someone came in and they had someone in their home exposed to covid. IE, a partner who lives at home with nurse sister who works in the hospital with at least one covid positive case can result in closer.
I know a store my last district closed for two weeks because someone came in sick (not even with covid to my understanding) but they were Sick and on property and now they’re closed.
POSITIVE NOTE: if it is covid related the CDC announced earlier this week that the death rate is like 0.04% MEANING 99% recovery rate for EVERYONE! Which also means we’re catching it sooner, treating it faster, and so on.
If you’re genuinely scared, and feel you haven’t been told the truth I would do one to two things,
1) I would go to your doctor/equivalent if you feel ill and see what’s going on. There’s also covid testing centers you can go to as well.
2) BUT, if you feel that your leaders aren’t just not communicating things to you as they figure stuff out but they are actually keeping you in the dark to not cause panic or get you to work else where, I would call HR. Report them by name and with as close to a quote as you can manage.
My husband used to work at starbucks and one time his store caught fire and the DM and SM with in one hour of flames being out said “OPEN UP!” They didn’t have proper ventilation, they weren’t approved to open by the fire department, etc. AND my husband has asthma and there were people working over 60, and a pregnant woman. NO ONE WAS ALLOWED TO LEAVE OR WAIT IT OUT!
Instead the SM left for literally 4 hours to “buy fans.” There were 4 grocery stores with in a mile radius, that all carried them. Came back one box fan for this drive through store.
The DM just took off and ignored their calls.
He called and complained, and reported everyone because that is HELLA putting people in danger and risking their lives.
In my opinion, there’s no difference between that obvious stupidity with the fire and this. If there is no covid risk, they would say what my old district did, “This isn’t covid related. But because someone was sick in the store, we had to close automatically for everyone’s safety, and current safety standards. No one can work other stores to make sure everyone’s safe. But this is not due to covid, if there’s new developments we’ll inform you.”
(Lol im in the group chats)
If I was you, that’s what I’d do. Because as scary as it is some people are making stupid decisions to try to get numbers and stuff (I get it, we’re a business) but you also have an obligation to communicate that to your team ya know?
ALSO, if you do you test covid tell HR. And if it comes back positive, anti bodies, etc. TELL THEM! That means you were exposed at work and your leaders need their asses on a platter.

Could it possibly be due to rioting? I’m nowhere near Minneapolis and even here the city is being burned/looted by rioters

Two of our stores in the next district got shut down within like a week or two of opening. They closed, sent the partners home, sanitized, and then are running the stores with all borrowed partners, shifts, and SMs.
My lobby opens on Monday. I'm scared.
