I’ve been a barista since February. I love working at Starbucks. I Diddnt get a lot of time to train before we had to shut down, so now we’re back and I’m still kinda learning. But some of my coworkers are treating me kinda rudely and rushing me and instead of teaching me, they make snarky comments and tell me to do CS or wash the dishes. It bothers me because I really wanna learn. I don’t know what to do, I wanna tell my manager but they’re also kind of hard to talk to. I have some medical issues that cause me to be late sometimes and I just don’t really feel comfortable at my store. I worked at a different location while mine was closed, and I loved it. All of the baristas and shifts and the manager were amazing to me and really made me feel like I was succeeding. Three days in back at my regular store and I feel alienated. I don’t wanna cause problems but I do suffer from depression and anxiety and I don’t wanna feel like this. What should I do?

Honestly OP, as a Starbucks manager, I would tell you to transfer to the other store. You could also tell your co workers that you are still learning and to chill out, but that might cause more backlash to be honest. It’s not fair to you to feel uncomfortable at your workplace. I would maybe talk to the awesome manager at the other store as well, as they may be able to provide you with better advice.

If I was seeing this as a manager, I would remind my team that they need to be inclusive and patient, as you are still very much new.

Thank you. But isn’t it too early for me to transfer? I thought it had to be six months. And I want to avoid animosity towards the people at the store I currently work at. The store I was working for while mine was closed DID say they needed more people. How could I transfer without any bad blood? Also thank you for responding. I’ve been having a panic attack all day because I’m upset. I love working at Starbucks.

I totally get it, I’m kinda going through something similar lol I made a post about it.

Because I don’t know your store, I feel like I can’t give you sound advice. I would talk to the awesome manager at the store you like for advice.
