a sort of rant and ask for help. (self.starbucksbaristas)

so i’ve been at my store over just over a year now. i’ve worked my butt off, i’ve only ever been late twice and called off twice. i’m a good worker. i get emails all the time to the store from customers saying that they enjoyed me.

but for whatever reason, none of that is enough. i’ve been asking my manager to just make me a trainer for almost 6 months. every time i ask it’s, “we don’t need any right now, we’re not hiring, you’re not ‘ready’ yet”. never a good excuse to me. she always brushes me off. people who started months after me have already been promoted, and are even being considered for shift supervisors. and still, i’m left in the dust.

my manager always wonders why i’m so frustrated at work. but honestly? why do you think i’m pissed? i’m nothing to her. and i’m getting so fed up. and i simply don’t even know what to do anymore. if anyone has any suggestions please help me out.

I would look into transferring. Even if there isn’t room for promotions right now, I would think your manager would be happy that a partner wants to show leadership and work with that.

that’s what i’m saying! and it’s no money out of the company’s pocket if i become a trainer. i just don’t get it and i’m so frustrated.

i love my partners, well 95% of them, and i’d hate to leave them. and my store is 3 minutes away from my house. i just don’t know if i can deal with it anymore.

i'd talk to your dm if your manager just isn't working with you and they can help you find a transfer . well it depends . I know a couple dms who are just evil .

Ask your manager what skills she feels you need to work on to become "ready". If she can't give you that, then transfer. If she gives you examples then try to be coachable and work on said skills.

i’ve worked on those skills, and she’s talked to me about how she’s sees the improvement. but the excuses as to why she can’t promote me continue. it’s no longer my skills or issues anymore, she’s told me that.

i really believe it’s because i’m not one of her favorites. and because i took the cat pay and was away for those months. bc she told me today to be grateful for customers bc they allowed me to stay home, and to not be “snippy” with them, which i wasn’t.

Keep asking your SM about it. For me, I had to be super consistent in asking for a promotion. They'll realize that you really want it, if you continue to ask. I also agree that you should talk to the DM.
