Dealing with these sorts of customers isn’t new to me but it still blows my mind every time I’m confronted by someone like this. Was on drive and this woman (probably early 20s—I was honestly shocked when she started acting like this) came through and ordered a venti cold brew with 4 pumps of vanilla and 2 pumps hazelnut. I was gonna ask if she wanted cream in it but she kept ordering and she sounded like she knew what she was talking about so I let it go. She got to the window and I handed the drink to her—and she stares first at the drink and then at me in utter disgust. So I ask her if something is wrong.

K: That’s not right.

Me: okay whats the issue I’d be happy to fix it for you

K: it’s not the right color

Me: oh okay sorry so you were probably wanting cream or the vanilla sweet cream? I can put that in for you

K: I come here all the time and I’ve never had this problem

Me: okay Im sorry i can add some cream for you

K: no i don’t want cream i order it like this all the time (repeats the order and I say yes that’s right) no it’s not supposed to look like that

Me: okay well I can add cream if you’d like (I’m being completely nice and helpful and respectful this whole time!! I even wanted to tell her I liked her overalls!!)

K: let me see it and taste it (she tastes it, grimaces in disgust, shoves it back at me) this is disgusting. (Proceeds to show me an old cup with a little bit of coffee at the bottom) it’s supposed to be this color

Me: adding cream will make it that color that’s probably what you’re thinking

K: I don’t want cream I want exactly what I ordered!

Me: (i repeat the order back to her and she says yes) ma’am this is exactly what you ordered

K: you know what I’m tired of this I’ll just take it (snatches the drink from me, puts it in her cup holder, puts her hands on the steering wheel. TURNS BACK TO ME AT THE LAST SECOND) actually what’s your name? I’d like to speak to your manager

Me: gladly

I get my manager, explain what’s going on, she tells her the exact same thing. We keep offering to remake the drink how she would like it. She refuses. AND THEN proceeds to tell my manager that I was being very rude to her and that I “need a talking to before I treat other customers that way.” We laughed it off but I roll my eyes SO HARD at people who act like this. I was offering everything to you! Whatever. I didn’t like your overalls anyway.

Anyway happy one year with Starbucks to me!! Besides encounters like these, this is the best place I’ve worked at :)

Oml, I can't stand customers like that. Like someone who asks for extra cream *not steamed* and complains that the coffee is cold! I offer to steam the cream and remake it but nooooo. Apparently they've never had this issue at any other starbucks and its myyyy fault. Because I can change the temp of the coffee on a freaking whim. Ahhhhh

That’s the excuse I hate the most. “I always get this and it’s never been a problem! The other Starbucks don’t do this!” It’s....literally not a bit deal. Just let me remake it so none of us have to keep listening to you whine

"I always order it like this!!" sucks, because it puts the onus on us to make it exactly *precisely* the way a random partner made it like a week ago. I always tell these people that even if they always order it the same way, they have to note every mod that comes in the drink. We aren't psychics, and we don't get paid enough to be.
