What is Starbucks view of the black lives matter stuff going on. I've seen some baristas writing black lives matter on cups. Is that something the company is okay with or can we get in trouble for doing anything like that

As much as I think Starbucks is supportive of what is going on I don’t think it’s a good idea to write that on cups. Giving it to the wrong person could get really ugly.

There is an note in the update about the protests that if someone says their name is “BLM” or “George Floyd” or anything like that you can put that as their name! But yeah maybe avoid writing anything that could potentially be construed as controversial. Maybe something still uplifting without overly saying it? Like “love one another”, something like that!

Just like I wouldn’t write “merry Christmas” on a cup I wouldn’t write that. I would stick with positive stuff on cups like “have a great day” or “thank you” Hahahaha even cute little non politic non religious very like uplifting stuff would be okay. I would be treading lightly around all this. Yes I personally am all for this movement but uhh it’s work and I’m also a huge Christian and I wouldn’t force my faith on someone while I’m working.

Idk if management or corporate would love the idea BUT if you get a chance to talk to some customers definitely start the conversation!! You get paid for connection, so connect by starting a casual conversation about it all
