Any one else getting their hours cut in half "for our benefit"?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ItsMamaB
Our store moved to start doing block shifts (5-2 one block and 2-10:30 second block) Night blocks hours have been cut LITERALLY IN HALF! I'm barely able to stay afloat with these crap hours! Anyone else having this happen at their store? Our manager said this is happening nation wide but for some reason I don't believe that 🤔

Same thing just happened at our store, no notice. I’m especially pissed off because we just hired 6 new people to supplement our already understaffed shifts and I look at the schedule today and my consistent 32 hours a week have been cut to 20... kind of confusing and we’ve stayed open through covid and even had record sales. Our manager is having one on one conversations with everyone in the store this week and from talking to others it sounds like the options will be accepting cut hours, taking paid leave, or a severance package... totally sucks

That’s about what I have heard too

I was told by a shift today that there is going to be an info drop soon that will contain three options.
1) stay a partner and working at the reduced hours and get used to the large cuts.
2) take a voluntary leave of absence in which we can file unemployment.
3) cut ties with the company on good footing.
It makes me wonder how much the shareholders are hurting when these options are presented.
I went from working 35 a week to 14. My insurance alone is 104 dollars a paycheck for everything.
I’m literally crying driving home from my shift

I'm very disappointed with the company...

I am as well. The shareholders are hurting and the people that get punished are the people that need the job to survive.
This goes against their supposed building blocks

It’s about to get worse.....

Oh gosh... Why do you say that 😰

Basically if you aren’t getting the hours you need you can leave or try to find hours elsewhere. Zero tolerance kinda shit. They started out really well with benefits and helping us, but they are fumbling big time lately

Starbucks can preach Third Place all it wants but this is such a load of bullshit. And I don't want to hear any bootlicking nonsense about protecting the company's bottom line, this goes against EVERYTHING they promised us.

Check your state's partial unemployment. Many are giving it because of loss of hours due to the pandemic.
