feel weird getting ready for work today (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by hogdaddie
manager sent out the pdf explaining our options this morning and it just feels so strange getting ready to go in knowing all I'll be able to think about today is if I can afford to keep or lose this job depending on what option I pick

Currently in between transferring stores. What pdf are you talking about?
MikIsDead 9 points 3y ago
search Partner Care Preferences in the hub. we’re being given 3 options:
1) stay working with reduced hours and fewer partners on the floor overall (= work in hell)
2) take a LOA but you can get called on at any nearby store at any time, if you refuse its considered quitting (meaning no unemployment)
3) take a severance package and leave the company. eligible for unemployment

What is the point of even providing LOA as an option if they are allowed to call you in whenever they want?
sauce_hog69 6 points 3y ago
They have to give you at least 14 days notice before you will be called in!
MikIsDead 4 points 3y ago
good question
Mariiriini 3 points 3y ago
You have protected health benefits, don't pay for them, and have the freedom to search for other jobs while having a job available to you.

It's a business need. The way my SM described it, they'll try to call back willing people first.
Beverice2 6 points 3y ago
Damn. My SM has told us nothing about this document or these 3 options. He just said “store is closed for a few weeks I’ll tell you guys whenever we decide to reopen”
MikIsDead 6 points 3y ago
from my understanding it was dropped yesterday, you have til sunday to decide. your manager is legally required to inform you of these options this week
netocanessa 1 points 3y ago
My manager told me I have till Friday to decide. Also I don’t think just any store can call you in to work, your manager can call you back in, if for some reason business starts picking back up and hours become more plentiful. But that’s only at your store not just any store can call you back to work.

Same. I may go wild and end this day without a job and that feels really... Interesting. Bad.

Hi, just wondering if this is United States only. I’m in Canada and haven’t heard anything about this. Thanks
hogdaddie [OP] 1 points 3y ago

Does anyone know if we can be given “separation” Instead of our preference?

I know they can deny our preferences but can it also work the other way?

This faq in the pdf explains how they det. Our preference in order to reduce amt of peeps competing for hours:

Q: What factors did Starbucks use to determine if partner preferences were honored or how partners were selected to have their preferences honored?

A: The determination was made based on business needs for staffing, partner preferences and partners’ availability relative to the business needs. In the event that this criteria wasn’t sufficient to reduce the number of partners competing for hours managers considered documented corrective actions (Final Written Warning or multiple Written Warnings in the past year) and company tenure. Undocumented performance issues were not considered.
