Taking the leave or leaving or staying? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by drubhub
I can get partial unemployment in my state and I would make more money on that than getting 20 hours a week. I still have a second job that I will be getting out of the house for 4 hours a day. Is anyone else taking the leave or taking the severance?

Do you mean you’re taking the LOA and know, as in verified you’ll qualify for unemployment? Or- you mean you’re staying, have less than 20 hours and collect partial on that ( which is sure-) the LOA I feel is dubious as it’s being reported as Involuntary loss of hours due to biz conditions but how do we know until we apply that it isn’t still perceived as a ‘choice’ which it is, albeit a a forced hand kinda choice.

you can get partial unemployment when you choose option 1?

Yes if you fall below your avg hrs & gross less than ur states weekly u/e amt you’d qualify for partial plus the extra 600 til end of July I believe then partial after that
If you go up in hrs or over that weekly Amt then not for that week

im staying. luckily im one of the few shifts at my store who can work anything so i hopefully well get some hours. luckily my boyfriend and my mom are both willing to help me with bills for a short time till everything goes back to normal. but if this goes over past summertime ill probably have to look for a new job or atleast a second one.

I'm in similar circumstances & will more than likely be doing the same. Much remains uncertain but seems a decently safe decision.
