3 Options (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by vicsnapshot1
What do you guys think about the three options? I am having a hard time deciding between the two. My manager said that she would rehire me if i did options 3, and i am inclined to do 3 since i do not make enough to pay bills. However option two comes with the benefits and all. Idk I’m having a hard time understanding this stuff if anyone would explain it!!,

I hope cutting labor/cost doesn’t only show at the store level. There’s plenty of redundancy in corporate. With smaller stores/less activity I hope district/senior leadership can take a wider responsibility with fewer people.

I hate to say it but Starbucks needs to close some underperforming stores. One in my district that’s been slow for years is closing and most of their employees are taking severance. Also IMO Starbucks in my area at least has way too many district managers and the districts are tiny. When I worked at other places, most districts had 20 stores while my Starbucks is 1/8.

Nah. That’s exactly why they are doing it. So corporate can stay cozy and comfy.

Yep. No doubt.

It is possible with LOA to still receive unemployment, depending on your state & their current unemployment policies. Many states have broader terms in response to covid-19. It has been suggested in my state that this would be an option.
Things seem sups uncertain everywhere; I'm in a similar boat, hope you find what you are looking for.

It also seems there is this underlying understanding that once you make the choice you're bound to it in some way? Like, I can't go back to work, even if I wanted to, until a later kind of vague date (August/September).
That being said, my SM did say that they are able to "recall" me so presumably if we maintain a decent relationship & I am in need of hours & my store has them to give, I could return.
🤷‍♀️

It’s as simple as this. You’ll be on LOA for UP TO 120 days.

Meaning if you are called back at ANY time, you have to go, otherwise it’s classified as job abandonment.

According to the resource it said you’ll be secure in your position, but you MAY not end up at the same store.

Super impressed with the options they’ve provided. It wasn’t long ago partners were demanding to get laid off so they could collect unemployment benefits. They kept them on with pay and no responsibility to work then present them with two options to collect unemployment. One where they can maintain benefits and one where they can receive a lump sum payment equivalent to 60 hours of pay. If you want the benefits take the LOA, if not take option 3.

Thanks you! I did hear, however, that with option 2 they could still deny your LOA if too many people from your store leave. Not sure how true that is considering the circumstances but it worries me.

I know they can deny our preferences— do you know if it also works the other way?

As in choose LOA but Receive separation?

There this faq on the pdf as to how pref. Are det. To help w # of peeps competing w hours;

Q: What factors did Starbucks use to determine if partner preferences were honored or how partners were selected to have their preferences honored?

A: The determination was made based on business needs for staffing, partner preferences and partners’ availability relative to the business needs. In the event that this criteria wasn’t sufficient to reduce the number of partners competing for hours managers considered documented corrective actions (Final Written Warning or multiple Written Warnings in the past year) and company tenure. Undocumented performance issues were not considered.
