Question about option 3 - severance package (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by FourTBelow
So I was planning on leaving the company after the additional $3 an hour was no longer being offered due to life circumstances and changes. However, I had previously cleared it with my manager to use up my remaining sick and vacation time before being removed from the roster/payroll. With the severance pay now being offered would I be able to request to use all of my sick leave (vacation being paid out upon departure) for this week, which I’m not working, and then take the severance pay?

I think that could work, but I've had friends leave the company and when they do, they're given the sick and vacation pay of what hours you had stocked up. Not sure if these are the same or might tax you more

I could have sworn that I heard that we don’t get paid out for sick leave, but I’ll check in with my manager and see what she says. Thank you!

Technically that's against company policy, so that's 100% up to your SM/DM.

Interesting, okay I’ll definitely get in touch with my SM. Thanks!

The rules around clearing you sick and vacation time vary state to state. Your best bet is to talk to your SM directly.
