is there something going on with managers recently thats keeping them off the floor pretty much all week? ( i work 5 days a week) or is it just my manager. He is NEVER on the floor. hardly ever see him anymore. also consistently coming in 1-2 hours late everyday

A lot of Store Managers are working primarily off the floor (non-Coverage) to give more hours to their baristas/SSVs. However, I continue to support my team and work on the floor during busy periods even though I´m technically scheduled off the floor. I don´t have a lot of Coverage hours these days.

I think with block scheduling managers are supposed to be doing any admin work off the floor and at home if possible

But I still see my manager on the floor like 2-3 times a week and I work 5 days a week

In many cases, coverage hours are limited due to decrease in demand for coverage. Meantime we have baristas and SSVs that need hours. So rather than being on the floor, we are spending it on admin. Believe me, I don’t like it but, it’s the best thing to do to support my partners and store. They are hourly and we only get so much floor coverage hours based on demand. I’d much rather being on the floor. If your manager is coming in late; ask if they’re okay.

I recently had a bout of depression and anxiety due to the lower demand on my store, less for me to do, a feeling of greater obligation, loss of a sense of purpose, on top of some personal issues. So I was showing up late for my admin. What does it matter if it doesn’t have an impact on the store? Luckily I got through it. Do you want less hours? See if they can work it out.
