Question about preference 3 (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by vegan-trash
Is the lump sum payment separate from the 60/84 hours pay out or is the lump sum payment the 60/84 hours
DisasterBoii 2 points 3y ago
Pretty sure it's the 60/84 hours, plus if you have any vacation time saved up. And if you have health insurance and opt to take COBRA, I think you also get that added lump sum from them

What do you mean opt to take cobra? I do have health benefitss through Starbucks right now but I am assuming that ends when I separate
DisasterBoii 2 points 3y ago
Your current health benefits end, but legally they have to offer you the chance to get cobra insurance if you're separated. My understanding is it's a really limited temporary insurance, and you'd be paying the entire premium out of pocket for it, but it's something to hold you over. Info is at the bottom of page 2 of the partner care preference faq packet

& cobra going forward after using the payout for that is like 900-1000 per peep per month. Very $$$

When do we get the lump sum?
vegan-trash [OP] 1 points 3y ago
Not sure Tbh. My manager said there’s no telling when the separation would be finalized as well due to specific store needs

I’m told the lump sum pmt IS the payout. One & the same..... would’ve been great if the lump was separate & based on a weekly avg x years worked/ which is what a standard severance is ( sometimes even 2 wks x years worked)

Yeah that would’ve been great. Been with the company 5 years but I guess it was too good to be true
