Thought I’d share my experience since it’s a upsetting and i’d like to rent XD
My manager is super upset with me for taking option 3 (he had the conversation with me today and told me I needed to give him the answer right then, but I already knew that I wanted option 3 so thats neither here nor there). I presume he is so distraught about my answer seeing as I open 5x a week and work my ass off for the company (((: Regardless, after I informed him I was taking option 3, he aggressively started tapping on his computer and said “ok. thanks for your time” and I walked away a bit awkwardly. However, not too sad about leaving since I was ready to put in my two weeks notice as the severance was just being spoken about. This is due to another circumstance of promising a shift promotion to me, and then leaving me out in the dark while also promising 3 other baristas the exact same position. Kinda fucked up in my opinion, so I’d rather not stay with the company for that reason.
He mentioned that it was “effective immediately” but also told me he needs to wait until he talks with my DM and then he will tell me my last day. What happens with my remaining shifts this week/next week, the following? I’m super confused and he was already angry enough with me for choosing option 3

Sounds like he loves taking advantage of hard working baristas and expects them to always be there for his needs. I’m excited for you to cut that toxicity from your life. From my understanding, since the schedule is already made/out. Whatever shifts you’re on for the next 2 weeks will be paid out. Then the 60 hours will come after. You would have gotten 84 if he had promoted you. According to a lot of partners on this sub, the 11th is when they process leave so that might be your last day.

SMs like this have zero business being SMs.

sorry to hear about the toxicity...😞
but choosing option 3 would be effective immediately?

I feel the same way. I can find another job. But starbucks don’t try to threaten me in staying.

Im glad your severance got approved. My SM and DM have to talk it over to seen if I’m allowed to leave.

My manager basically told me that it was “basically guaranteed” but he had to talk it over?? How are they going to tell me I can’t quit if I don’t want to be there? I’ll literally just quit after?? It makes no sense to me why they would offer the package and attempt to deny people to leave...

1) "Ok thanks for your time" isn't exactly a horrible response. It's not like it's a great time for us as sm either. I'm pulling my hair out over all of this. Your one conversation has happened 32 times for most of us.
2) The effective date will be (I'm pretty sure) the week of the 15th. You'll be paid out all hours scheduled through then plus the lump sum 60/84 hours.
3) Do what's best for you. Understand that is what matters, but don't expect someone's reaction to be songs and praise when someone they obviously rely on and trust decides to leave.
