I told my boss I wanted option 3 and she said, “You know they’re just preferences, right?”. Am I going to still get it or will she make me stay and work? :( (self.starbucksbaristas)

I planned on putting in my two weeks next month and just wanted to go ahead with option 3 because my store is so toxic and taking a large toll on my mental health. The way my boss reminded me that they’re preferences makes me think she’s gonna try to force me to stay. I’m a shift supervisor and have been a partner for 5+ years. I’m so done.

EDIT: I GOT MY SEVERANCE!! 204**** clocking out!

I don’t want to add stress and do encourage you to perhaps research or call PCC. But yes, the document they presented to you is titled ‘partner care preference’ so nothing is guaranteed. If your store is busy enough and has enough hours going around then you might have to work. From what I learnt on here over the past few days is that if they do keep you but you want out then you are NOT qualified for unemployment. (Since technically you are offered a job but turn it down) Any partner on here more knowledgeable and can shine some lights?

Everything you said is correct.
These preferences are not guaranteed. If I were OP, and my preference was denied, I would continue to work and if my hours were reduced, I would apply for partial unemployment.

These preferences are not guaranteed. If I were you, and my preference was denied, I would continue to work until next month (or whenever you were gonna put in two weeks anyways) and if my hours were reduced, I would apply for partial unemployment (if your state has that option). Is your store experiencing lower sales? Labor cuts? If so, staying on while working less hours and collecting partial unemployment (if your state offers it) might be a good option.

I'm out of the loop I've been on a nonrelated to COVID LOA - Did you guys know if preferences were only a guarantee before filling out the paper? I was under the impression this was more of a solid move across the company for the safety and concern of partners. Oh how naive I am lol
