Barista is covid postive, managers kept it a secret (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by cosmicsnowpea
Hey guys!
Yeah so, a barista tested positive Thursday (test administered Monday) for coronavirus. The baristas last shift was the Friday before she got tested. The district and store manager kept it a secret until yesterday when we had our preference meetings. After we said we chose preference 1, we were then informed that one of our baristas had corona.

I have conflicting emotions and opinions about how this went down.

I'm feeling uneasy, because I feel like something is "off" in my body, but I don't know what it is.
I'm scheduling a test for tomorrow morning, but I still have a scheduled shift later in the day.

Edit 1: Started feeling changes in my sinuses. Cough started up. Got tested today! Will hear back 2-4 days

This is unacceptable. On the partner hub is a Covid-19 Partner Support Form that you should fill out. Anyone who worked with that coworker needs to quarantine for 2 weeks and the store needs to be closed and cleaned immediately. It's incidents like this that are causing this virus to infect more people unnecessarily. You should call PCC and report your SM and DM although I'm not sure if they will actually do anything to reprimand them for their blatant lack of care for employees and the community. It's good that you are going to get tested and your coworkers should probably do the same.

Thank you.

Yeah.. I feel really odd about it. I want to trust my managers, but I feel like they were keeping it secret to stay open.
Thanks for the info about partner hub, I didn't know that. I'm checking it out now

Some of these managers are not taking the virus seriously and it's putting everyone in danger. Too many people are ignorant about science and medical facts and aren't willing to educate themselves.

I found the form under the Covid-19 info, but you can also do a search for it.

Had a similar situation at my store. Girl had to get tested for COVID since she had direct exposure, only the morning crew had to quarantine and we were never told the results. Another partner had exposure as well and had to get tested and nobody was even told.

If your sinuses are acting up then it's probably not Corona so two questions:

Wet or dry cough?

Can you smell?
