How do you close a 24 hour store? Genuinely curious about tasks
semivsad [OP] 59 points 3y ago
Our operational hours had been cut to 8 hrs only. I don’t even know because I had never done it before till now.

Bet you're not a "night crew can do it" person anymore now that you see how much crap gets left for them.

I never was I’m always the person covering those shifts when they have holidays and they be my buddies but I’m so happy everyone on the team finally can see how difficult it is and actually know now how to clean down so they can help out

I've always been curious how 24 hour stores work. Do you guys stay busy through the night?
Massy_182 15 points 3y ago
Businesses is steady most nights not exactly busy, but we do get rushes every once in a while.

My store is about to become 24 hours. Not sure how I feel about it yet.

What? You must be in Cali lol
BoominShroomer 3 points 3y ago
Or Vegas..
crzyshiba 3 points 3y ago
Oh yeah soo true didn’t think about that lol I wonder how much pay is in Vegas for a barista
BoominShroomer 11 points 3y ago
I work in Vegas at a Starbucks owned store. I’ve been there for 5 years so I make $11/hr ... smh.

I was thinking about moving to a casino Sbux because they usually make $14-16 starting out with FAT tips and their pay increases much more rapidly than corporate owned stores, since the casino ones are casino owned. Plus you get additional perks like excellent healthcare since it’s coming from a huge casino! I also believe they have access to free casino food on their brakes...

I am grateful however that I didn’t make the switch, because after covid everyone who worked in a casino basically lost there job.

i work in a casino location in vegas! we are part of the casino not corporate starbucks so we get $13.85/hr starting. it differs depending what casino company u work for. there is one location i know of where the workers are union so they get $17/hr
BoominShroomer 2 points 3y ago
Did the lockdown affect your job? Any paid time off or how is your location handling everything?

And Damn! Do you know which location is union?

we got “laid off” from the casinos when vegas shut down on March 15th but it was more like furlough, once we opened back up last week (but at 50% capacity) everyone at my starbucks got hired back! a few people couldn’t come back or found other jobs but still our hours are hella cut. instead of 24hrs we are 6am-6pm so no one is really getting 40hrs. the casino paid us an extra 2 weeks, and then paid us through our vacation hours during the quarantine so i got roughly one and a half more paychecks after our last day. now that we’re back it’s been slowww compared to how crazy we used to be on a daily basis lol! i want to say Tropicana is union? i have a coworker who worked both my location and at Tropicana! not sure if $17/hr is the starting wage or if that’s the wage she’s at right now bc she’s been there for a few years!
