submitted by stonerscout455
okay, i know what this is, but in starbucks terms i’ve only ever heard it thrown around once or twice. i’ve been trying to move up for a long time, and it looks like i’m going to be stuck where i am, and with needing more money i wanted to know if working at a corporate AND a licensed store is a no no? i rly love my coworkers and don’t want to leave them... so i’m just trying to see my options. thanks friends!

A conflict of interest is defined as a situation or a relationship where a person has multiple interests (ex. Jobs) where your loyalties work against each other.

The organizational duty of having a job is to make your company better right?

If you worked at a mom and pop cafe and Starbucks, that could be seen as a conflict of interest because you could be taking knowledge and information about Starbucks and then the mom and pop cafe would be taking customers from Starbucks. Thats a conflict of interest.

Licensed stores are still part of the Starbucks corporation. They are owned by the grocery stores (or wherever they are) so they have different rules but the grocery stores still pay a licensing fee to Starbucks. It doesn’t SEEM like a conflict but that would be up to the discretion of your manager I suppose
