I've been with the company for over 5 years now. I've been a shift. A trainer. An opener. A closer. I've seen a lot change. Now it's time to move on. In my last days I realized how toxic it was becoming, and so my preference for option 3 came pretty easily. To all the beans staying in the brew basket, take it easy and good luck!

Can you elaborate on these options that I happened to miss out on? I left like two weeks ago, but I’ve been hearing about a lot of these options with no real explanation. I’m curious.

We received 3 "preferences"

1. Stay on but most likely have your hours cut.
2. Take unpaid LOA until the end of September, being recalled when business demands it.
3. Take a separation package of involuntarily leaving (so you can apply for unemployment) and a set amount of hours paid out depending on your position.

In a nut shell. And a lot of partners didn't have their prefs honored.

I mean... That's why they were called preferences. It's shitty that that happened to you and your store, but from the beginning my SM and DM let us know that your preference might not align with what the company can do. Like if every cafe partner wants to stay with reduced hours they couldn't do that. Layoffs happen, it's shitty... But at least Starbucks is giving people some influence.

Yeah I'm aware. I'm in Seattle, so business hasnt slowed too much. More often it was partners wanting to take LOA and getting laughed at by their manager. Not mine. That's just what I've heard. I think more people are upset at having to make such a stressful choice and then realizing that they didn't really have to, especially during an already stressful time.
