Is it REALLY safe to wear a Labor pin? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by leonfrankczolgosz
Hey I want to wear an IWW pin and the dress code says I'm allowed to but I'm afraid of getting backlash from my manager in the form of less hours or higher scrutiny, what should I do?

This is some really good advice, thanks!

What is IWW? As long as it’s approved do what you want. If there is retaliation go to PCC or your DM.

Industrial Workers of the World, and I'm honestly more worried about my DM. Plus I'm afraid the kind of stuff they could do would be hard to prove. The 'bux has a really awful history of stamping out labor movements within the company even though I don't have any intention to organize.

Gotchya. I say sake a chance and wear it. But if you’re really that worried then go with your gut.

Depends on your SM and DM. Some are extremely opposed to unions, and will try to find an excuse to fire you, because it's illegal to use your union support as justification to fire you.

Try to figure out how your SM and DM feel about unions before doing it, or make sure you have a squeeky clean record that never gives them an excuse to do anything to you.

I feel like I have a good relationship to my SM but I definitely feel like it could change if I get on her bad side, thanks for the advice.
