UPDATE: I just had the worst shift ever ... (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by pretiburdi
So yesterday I posted about my awful terrible no good shift. I was told to not come to work today (the following day) and that I'd be on a triage with the store manager and district manager.

- we will be getting a plastic shield in drive thru
- explained they 3 options again to me
- did a lot of talking in circles
- starbucks has a science department working with CDC apparently???
- not allowed to "police" customers (did not get much clarification except that we can ask them to wear masks but NOT deny service)
- regardless, we CANNOT deny service
- customers could react negatively to being asked to wear a mask, which like irrelevant they're mad all the time anyway

My concerns:
- baristas not asking customers to wear a mask. Their follow up was that some baristas dont feel comfortable. My reply is that they then can't be put at the window. No follow up confirming what they would do
- baristas being re coached in general about asking customers to wear masks, no confirmation about whether they would do that
- personal town / state vs starbucks corporate, no confirmation on who takes precedence when it comes to denying service to non-masked customers

I don't know. Like I said I felt like we talked in circles. I still feel like I'm being pushed towards options 2 & 3. I took a lot of notes.

Are there any other ways I can politely suggest we maintain masks and stay strong to my managers? I feel like quitting/ the leave of absence is just recognizing that starbucks won't do anything to protect my health or my baristas health.

Mind if I ask what State/region you’re in? There might by be some guidelines the company has to follow if they’re in that State.

I'm in New England / MA and you're right! Our board of health person is out til Monday and I need to make decisions by Sunday T_T. I know I'm right, it just seems like my store isn't as worried as I am. And I'm hella low risk all things considering (I know that doesn't really matter with COVID, but generally speaking I'm low risk).
