My favourite story is when this woman asked for a tall blonde in a venti cup filled to the top with cream. I handed it off and she immediately complained about the coffee being freezing. So I clarified what she wanted - asking if she’d wanted the cream steamed. Nope. She wanted a tall blonde in a venti cup filled to the top with cream. So I remade it. And obviously it was still too cold. She was livid.
I remember breaking it down with her. Tiny bit of hot coffee lots of cold cream. And she was giving me dirty looks this whole time (bc obviously I’m the idiot). I asked what happens when you add cold water to hot water?
“Well it cools down obviously.”
I just started at her waiting for her to come to the realization.
Never seen someone drive off so quick.

this happened to me like a year ago where a lady wanted like 3 inches of cold heavy cream in her americano but then proceeded to yell at me because it was cold

They don’t. People are clueless and when they make silly mistakes they immediately get combative to cover up their own embarrassment.

When I started working for Starbucks I got a customer where she wanted an hot chocolate but iced. So I asked if she just wanted a cup of chocolate milk, she of course said no, and repeated her order again. Tried one more time to correct her and tell her that will be a cup of chocolate milk. She finally got upset and asked to talk to the shift. Never seen someone so upset over "iced hot chocolate"

We have a regular at my store that gets a grande dark roast in a venti cup and no matter what we do, no matter when we brew the coffee it’s always too cold. We have given it to him with steamed half and half to fill the cup just how he likes, too cold. We steamed it to 190, too cold. We steamed the coffee with the cream to 190, too cold. He has yelled at us, left without paying, made mean comments all the time, jokes with certain baristas (the ones he finds attractive, he’s well up there in age and my coworkers are only 19 to mid-20s) but still excepts us to give him the best service he thinks we’re capable of. 😩😩😩

We get this lovely woman who orders her chai tea extra hot at 200 degrees :) oh! And she's thrown her beverage at our baristas before. Her cup can't be too full but it also can't be too empty. Im not sure how she hasn't been banned yet.

had a woman do this to me once and then come back and ask me if I could *microwave* it for her......

Wanna know what will make it even more worse? It’s a partner that complains.

I was a green bean at the time, but I knew how to brew coffee. It was the first thing I was taught. A partner, that’s leaving at the end of their shift, makes a coffee. With cold cream. She said “someone needs to brew some coffee, this is cold!” I had literally just brewed that coffee.

People are just stupid. And it doesnt help we arent really allowed to be straight up with people.

Don’t you just love people with a lack of common sense.
