Hey, so what happening right now as I understand is basically that Starbucks isn’t making enough money to pay all their partners so the solution to this as of right now is that all partners in corporate stores are getting three choices
1. Keep working and risk getting reduced hours and potentially be officially transferred to another store that needs more partners or is making enough money (like a high volume or drive through store)
2. Take an unpaid leave of absence, you keep your benefits, one free food item and beverage everyday, and could be called back to work at any moment. You can also potentially collect unemployment
3. Take a severance package and be on a good position to get rehired at a later date
All that being said I’m not sure that most stores are hiring right now. I would definitely ask for more clarification from your friend before making any big decisions. I hope this helps a little bit!

Not sure if it's country-wide, but my area is on a hiring freeze. A lot of stores put folks on LOA, those folks will get called back first and they will move partners within the district to get enough hours. Then maybe we'll be hiring again. It all depends on the needs of the store and district.
