I’m thinking of becoming a shift (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by rabbitmom1999
so I’m transferring to a new store next week, and I was starting to think about becoming a shift at my current store before I was asked to transfer. I have wide open availability and I’m a hardworking employee, so I think I’d be good at it, and the store I’m transferring to is short on shift supervisors. however I am only going to be in the area until the end of the year, at which point I’ll be going back to school out of state and probably transferring to a store near there at reduced hours. do you think my new store would still find it worth it to train me as a shift supervisor even though I basically know I’ll only be around for six more months?

Its 100% not about how fast you are on bar. We have a shift at my store that honest to god is terrible at bar, but she is great with customer service. Dont let that one little thing hold you back. :)

You’ll rarely see bar as a shift. You probably just gets to see it when you’re counting milks or checking if everything is looking good before leaving. I’m not fast either but I’m accurate and proud of it. Customers know they have to wait with me but it’s always quality beverages that they don’t regret spending money on.

Our shifts are on bar all the time. Sometimes our store manager is for peak. And it might not be the shift on duty that's on bar but it's some sort of shift with magical powers (keys and junk lol).

I know some shifts like bar and they’ll hog it any chance they get. But truly tho, at least for me, it’s a very tunnel vision position. Like I just get through the line of drinks, come back up for air then just hear the stickers printing again. It’s hard to access partners and customers’ needs. For me at least.
