I mean, do you need the extra money? Then file. What bill is this partner paying of yours that gives them a say in how you acquire said needed money? Bitches gonna bitch.

Don’t feel guilty! I’m at a license store and we’re doing the same. My husband is a coffee roaster for a local company and they advised him to do the same. They just ensure they don’t give him more hours than he claimed based on what they told him.

Basically they said you’re working 15 hours until this is over so he filed for the difference of his usual 40.

Also why feel guilty at all??

It’s not your fault you need money and your job can’t provide it for you. The entire world is in the same boat. Unfortunately our bills won’t stop so we have programs to help literally everyone.

My store is doing block scheduling and the DM issued a strict rule that we can’t cross blocks so everyone is pretty much set in their blocks from week to week. I’m 16-22 now too but I’m in a place where I can afford to do that. Before, I was averaging 30 being a keyholder.

If you have bills to pay, do what you can to take care of yourself. Don’t listen to your partners and feel guilty for filing unemployment. Everyone is doing it. It’s a tough time for everyone.

Thank you. This was very reassuring to me and I really appreciate your advice! I started to feel really gross but I don’t as much anymore.

No :( I’m still working 5 days a week and getting close to 40 hours. I’m tired 😭

Hours are dictated by a formula that predicts how busy a store will be. More sales and more customers mean more hours, and the reverse is true, fewer customers and sales means fewer hours.

So most stores have their hours reduced because there aren't enough customers to justify more hours.

You can try talking to your manager, or if your state has partial unemployment you can file for that.
