Someone at my store just got confirmed and I'm MAD (self.starbucksbaristas)

I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!!!! We are required to wear masks and sanitize and basically deal with all of this stuff first hand and yet we don't require customers to wear masks when SO MANY OTHER PLACES DO. 'We can't police the guests, we are not the police!' THAT IS NOT POLICING, THAT IS KEEPING EVERYONE SAFE!
Then we get the service pay taken away, as though the risk is over and the pandemic a thing of the past, and yet have allllll these requirements and safety measures for the employees: IF YOU THINK THERES ENOUGH OF A RISK FOR THAT, WHY NOT PAY US MORE?!
'We can only cover you for self-isolation ONCE! After that, you'll have to rely on your benefits and acquired sick pay!' So fuck the new employees? Fuck my sick pay for when I have the flu or something huh? Starbucks can't afford to pay us for isolation? Starbucks? It's too poor for that?
And NOW! Someone is confirmed for covid! Neat! We've been going toward block scheduling to try and limit everyone's exposure, but we still have at least three people that flex both morning and closing shift, so really, we're all fucked! Deep clean the store then figure out who's left and see if we can run the store on that? Sureeeee no problem!
I'm just so angry right now.

Update: it's a shift lead who went partying! During this fucking pandemic! Goddammit I'm so mad!!! But I don't have to isolate, and we're gonna open up (maybe) after the store is cleaned, depending on how many people we've still got. And we've had people in contact with the confirmed person who I'VE WORKED WITH!!

I feel your pain. I have a coworker who keeps fucking going on hookup dates. I wish I’d taken option 3 because the people in my store who did get unemployment money now!

Let me ask you this: would $3 extra dollars make this situation any better for you? Would you be less mad or not mad at all?

It would make me a little less mad, because then, my lack of hours is at least compensated by the 3$ and I don't have to worry as much about my expenses, and others don't have to worry as much about their expenses either.

If I'm being honest, 3$ extra is still not nearly enough to put my mind at ease.
