I got off at 3 yesterday and was so happy I didn't have to suffer HH that much
CalDoesMaths14 points3y ago
It was my first happy hour I’ve had off since I was hired a long time ago. I like to think my manager was saying thank you to me. Even though it was probably a coincidence.

Same fam. Same
punkawkward43 points3y ago
My store literally had three people on the floor the entirety of happy hour. I wanted to cry
crzyshiba34 points3y ago
3 people at that point I wouldn’t even rush , I’d be hey this is what we got so you gunna wait for a long time
lipstick-lemondrop4 points3y ago
This is what I do when we have 2 ppl on happy hour (kiosk, so not horrible, but still). Just make one drink at a time, focus on what’s ahead of you, count down the minutes til closing.
punkawkward1 points3y ago
That’s definitely what I tried to do, still so overwhelming when someone orders right venti Frappuccinos, and also sneezes all over the drink carriers two feet away from me.
bloodyspit8 points3y ago
ended up staying 2 extra hours because i didn’t wanna leave my shift with 2 green beans for happy hour who couldn’t bar yet ):
Bryancreates7 points3y ago
This just gave me PTSD as someone that would open, look at the schedule and see a borrowed partner and a green bean with the new SS who is already on verge of a mental breakdown and I just know I’m going to end up staying an extra hour....
crzyshiba2 points3y ago
Bless you soul I feel for them they put me on HH I wanted to die
Gekyumevro1 points3y ago
Check yo pm
JCaligirl4208 points3y ago
Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry. I’ve been there and it’s rough. I’m glad to see you’re alive and sane?
punkawkward1 points3y ago
Alive and partially sane! I appreciate the concern (: my shift manager was literally throwing things around by the end of the night
matchababyy [OP]6 points3y ago
holy cow!!! i think i would've broke down
punkawkward1 points3y ago
Pretty sure there was a moment during that mess that we were all crying lol. Pissed that we couldn't have just called someone in for help
proletarithot42 points3y ago
I have worked almost literally every happy hour since they switched to Thursday’s. Nothing phases me anymore.
Drink queue 25 frappes strong? No sweat, just batch n sequence.
Customers reaching around glass shields at the hand off? Sorry ma’am, please don’t.
No drink trays because of warehouse shortages? It’s cool, your 4 trenta no water no ice no inclusion SAR fit in this empty box.
Uber deliveries acting like they have preference over other customers? Fuck outta here Geoff, your drinks are like 12 iced macchiatos down.
JCaligirl42019 points3y ago
We got trays delivered by fedex yesterday, I was never so happy to see them. We had a lady reaching over everything to grab a bag! I was like we’ll grab that for you, she said it’s fine I er got it and I said I see that but now I have to throw all of that away because you touched it you dirty heathen!
hopelovepeace3321 points3y ago
I got off at 1:15 yesterday & booked it out the door. I’ve worked one happy hour and it’s horrible. To all you late midday and evening shots shifts hats off to you because I would cry.
GymLeaderFlame20 points3y ago
Gotta love when stickers go down for mobile lady comes up to the box to pick up that mobile and it’s 12 DIFFERENT VENTI FRAPPES
matchababyy [OP]9 points3y ago
like i get it BUT I ALSO DONT do people just decide to not think abt employees !! i can't believe ur still alive to tell the story
GymLeaderFlame11 points3y ago
I wanted to die her staring me down like “I mobile ordered for a reason” yea Brenda but next time you get frappes during happy hour at least let us batch
mhgl2 points3y ago
It blows my mind that Starbucks still using the stickers. I was in a store in Austin back in March of 2019 and they were beta testing using iPads for the mobile orders.
It got rid of the sticker jam issue and also sent the customer a mobile push notification to let know their drink was ready.
From a customer perspective, it was clearly a superior experience. The baristas I spoke with it dug it too. Not sure why it hasn’t spread / become the standard yet.
Edit: typos

Frappuchinos.
Psychedelic_Doughnut6 points3y ago
I was solo on drive bar yesterday for 5 out of my 6 hours working, with almost no bar support
lilBalzac5 points3y ago
That’s a lot
yungasi5 points3y ago
i came in at 8:30pm for close/clean play and after seeing the absolute pain my other two partners were in i knew i should just shut up and clean
AndrewtheRey5 points3y ago
I only worked 5a-12p yesterday thank goodness
convulsivedaisy4 points3y ago
I opened after the happy hour. This is my first time opening in the new store and also I won’t be working happy hours anymore. I worked almost all of them for over a year and a few months. I understand how awful it gets. I’ve seen it all. They did well for what it was and I did have to prep a lot this morning but they simply couldn’t get to it last night and I understand and appreciate the partners who worked through and after happy hour.
official_koda_4 points3y ago
I worked until 1 pm and it was hell so I feel for you guys. Happy hour is literally the worst and corporate is the WORST FOR BRINGING IT BACK DURING A DAMN PANDEMIC!!!! Yeah GREAT idea having people in a small area right now
Tryocon3 points3y ago
Honeslty I loved all the people standing in the lobby yesterday like trying to distance but you can't cuz were all stuck inside!
TylerTheBox3 points3y ago
We had 4 people despite us being one of the high volume stores in our state and top in the district, I was on cold bar the whole time, my legs are DEAD. Took is 1.5 hours to close as well (as opposed to 30), only having 3 people and all.
sunkistlvr2 points3y ago
i had a partner who only opens talking bout how she wants to work hh and wanted to work the awful busy nights
lilBalzac2 points3y ago
Full happy hour yesterday, three partner close today (I got blisters running from the handoff outside to POS and back so much). Back to open tomorrow. 😂
BachStrad0071 points3y ago
Props to actual Starbucks baristas... happy hour at Tom Thumb is a joke.
