after nearly 3 years, today will be my last as a Starbucks partner. i’ll have some not-so-great memories, but the majority are good ones.

as i ride off into the sunset, let me encourage my fellow peons. customers are going to be rude, SM’s are going to schedule you whenever they want and then argue with you, co-workers are going to drag ass so you have to pick up the slack, the grilled cheese will Freddy Krueger your ass, and some days will be tougher than others. but i want you all to know two very important things:

1. you matter. you’re not just a number, you’re not just a warm body, you’re not just the person that screwed up a drink. you are a wonderful, beautiful, creative, overqualified, and talented person who just so happens to work at Starbucks. you’re a mother fuckin’ star, baby.

2. it’s just Starbucks. it’s just coffee. it’s just a stupid milkshake. don’t take it too seriously. don’t take yourself too seriously. when that know-it-all co-worker starts that “well ACTUALLY the Hobart isn’t a dishwasher...” bullshit, just let it go. at the end of the day, we’re just a McDonald’s that focuses on coffee. work hard, try hard, and support your team mates, but please remember that’s it’s just coffee.

Glad to see someone else that tells people "it's just coffee". I say that basically every shift to people that are getting stressed out. The store won't go under if drive thru times go from 30 seconds to 45 if you take the time to wipe a counter. The world won't explode if you spill a drink or use the wrong milk and have to remake something. Starbucks is low stakes, there isn't really anything to feel guilty or stress out about.

I had a customer tell me one day when I got his order wrong that if this was the only thing that goes wrong today, he’s gonna have a good day.

That customer is a gift and I love him already

I swear people that work there act like it's the most important thing ever to tell me to make sure the butter side of the grilled cheese is faced down in the oven , like it's ruined... or my SUpervisor snap at me because I asked my coworker behind the bar if they could get me a water for a customer and the S snapped at me and told me to do it my self ... or for my other supervisor to stop me from making whipped cream and tell me I need to charge it upside down but they don't know why .... this ain't even all of it... I'm getting tired of it it's all starting to just sound petty when I get told something or snapped at
