LOA and trouble with WA Unemployment?? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by shelsketches
Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me. I decided Option 2 was the best choice for me, since I figured if I stayed I would be asked to take the leave (I also have some health issues and don’t want to get the virus) or I would end up working in a very understaffed store as a green bean (288**** here!) which would really put my fellow partners in a pinch simply bc I’m not a speed machine... and we are trying to rebuild a business lol. I applied for unemployment on June 15th, and I was denied regular unemployment, and when I applied for PUA, I was denied that also? The Unemployment office sent a few different notices asking for more information, and was asking if my claim was based entirely on part time work, etc. The BIGGEST question I have at the moment is: does it make a difference putting Leave of Absence as the reason you are not working for your employer or should I put laid off, or something else?? It seems like the whole reason Option 2 exists is not enough of a reason to receive unemployment benefits, even if the reason partners have to take a forced leave is because of the economic impact of the virus? Kinda lost and hope I’m wrong!!
