This Tuesday a partner at my store tested positive for covid. The friday before I worked with her.
We all are forced to be close on our floor at work anyways since the space is so small and we're mostly roomates, so we didn't worry about being close not on the floor assuming if one had covid, we all would anyways. (I already know this is bad, yes i regret it.)
I took the bus with her and was close to her on transportation. her aunt passed away from covid in the middle of our shift and I hugged her. I took from her bag of popcorn.
They contacted everyone who was with her within 48 hours and told them they had to get tested and self isolate, but especially the ones who had contact with her outside of the work space like a couple on our closing team did. I was never contacted because I closed with her on friday, before the 48 hour window. However the other girl who was close to her on Friday, outside the 48 window, on the same transportation ride was contacted and told to get tested and self isolate. I spoke to my manager about this and said that I worked in Friday with her as well, to keep it short.
She replied that it would only be people within 48 hours and those with close contact, and the girl was named by someone to have had close contact with the partner who had covid, so I wasn't to self isolate. However I had the same contact as well as additional, and I know the store is short staff now from this and she doesn't want to lose another partner, but I feel guilty not stressing the close contact I had with her.
Also, maybe this is just my paranoia, but I don't want the manager to think I'm just trying to get off. I really don't know what to do. I'm in canada, and I was wondering if I should just call health canada myself and ask? however I'm not sure how and again I don't want to make my manager angry because it looks like I'm trying to get off.
