Starbucks Baristas: The daily grind

Customers are really willing to wait in a 25+ car line for fucking STARBUCKS that reaches all the way to the entrance/exit of our shop complex, then get an attitude w you at the window... even though we're busting them out at no less than 85% 🙄 (self.starbucksbaristas)

WHO WANTS NASTY OVER PRICED COFFEE *THAT* FUCKING BADLY ANY WAY
glittterturtles 132 points 3y ago
This is something I will NEVER understand- you saw the line. You saw all those cars backed up behind the speaker and you still chose to get in line. You chose to hop in and refused to prepare yourself for the wait associated with willingly getting in line and are now taking it out on me? Nah, fuck that.

I got a customer complaint this morning about how busy it was yesterday. Lady... we can’t control the amount of people that come to our location, we’re a downtown store. I was rolling my eyes while I put on my best customer service voice on to pretend that I actually gave a shit. The amount of entitlement that Starbucks customers have is just baffling to me.
HildyvonBingen 45 points 3y ago
People do that to us, too. Like. You saw the line. You knew you’d have to wait. We aren’t dragging our feet in here :/
BuffyBoltonVampFlayr [OP] 30 points 3y ago
And it's not like every car isn't ordering 4 fucking different fraps or anything either...
HildyvonBingen 7 points 3y ago
There was a woman who chewed MY head off because the guy in front of her ordered 8 fraps.
crzyshiba 42 points 3y ago
Or wait in line with 25+ then get to window and complain the Frappuccino’s are watered by the time they receive it
official_koda_ 36 points 3y ago
There’s literally nothing worth waiting at Starbucks that long for
soda_rain 28 points 3y ago
Maybe we should unionize because corporate isn’t listening to us. I for example haven’t been paid since May 11.
okeekee 16 points 3y ago
Wait what???? How have you not been paid?? Are you on a LOA or something?
soda_rain 17 points 3y ago
My SM illegally fired me while I was involuntarily hospitalized, then the DM illegally reversed the termination when I called her after discharge and put me on a PLOA instead of a MLOA so I wouldn’t sue for wrongful termination.
ThrowawayTheOmlet 6 points 3y ago
Psh, fuck that sue away. People need their paychecks
soda_rain 1 points 3y ago
They have better lawyers, and I don’t have time for a lawsuit due to ongoing medical issues. It’s more important that I keep my insurance right now.
drinkliquidclocks 9 points 3y ago
??? What does this mean ??? Are you working? If you're working isn't that illegal? Wat
soda_rain -3 points 3y ago
I answered above.

It was way worse when stores were closed down. My store was the only one left open in my district and the line wrapped around our tiny parking lot & then people would get mad at the window when we were out of something they wanted. I so badly wanted to say so many times I DONT HAVE TO FUCKING BE HERE ASSHOLE! I CAN STILL TAKE PAID LEAVE BECAUSE WERE ONE PERSON AWAY FROM SHUTTING THIS OPERATION DOWN AND YOU CAN NOT HAVE ANY COFFEE!
rachelsmall 7 points 3y ago
That was my entire mood the e n t i r e time.
hopelovepeace33 10 points 3y ago
Yea now it’s the opposite where Starbucks is trying to close themselves down yet again with allowing people to sit in the cafes without wearing a mask with covid cases on the rise. Just one person needs to come into the store with covid not knowing they have it not wearing a mask & expose every baristas working that day along with other customers in the store.
beccaboo2u 20 points 3y ago
This was my entire DTR shift yesterday.. EVERYONE was mad about the wait time..
Koalastars009 6 points 3y ago
I don’t get this either! I know there’s customers that lurk on this sub. What’s specific drink are you getting that’s worth waiting so long for? I work inside a grocery store location. And I have done busy weekends closing by myself. Had a ton of people saying they were in line 30-45 minutes. Personally I’m thinking it’s a cultural status thing. People like walking around with the cups and logo. Or bringing a bunch of drinks to family and coworkers because you spent $30. I think for those of us that work here, that whole facade of “luxury” drink quickly turns into the realization of everything being a super sugary drink with a hint of milk. Sorry for the rant. I just find Starbucks marketing super fascinating. Especially lately with questions like “what’s your most popular drink?” Not “what’s your best tasting drink?” It’s not bad or wrong. But it does give some insight on how people perceive the company.
basicallymad 2 points 3y ago
Totally hear you here but on the "what's your most popular drink" thing, that makes way more sense to me than asking "whats your best tasting drink". Reason being, "best tasting" is SO subjective whereas there can be a pretty measurable answer for "most popular". Most people means a lot of people find it tasty whereas "what's your fave" means just the barista likes it... and what if our taste buds don't vibe?

Obviously there are others who just get something that'll make them look cool, but that's so ridiculous I hope it isn't the majority of people who ask that q.
Koalastars009 1 points 3y ago
Surprisingly in my store it is partially to look cool. I’m inside a target in Texas. And they’re not allowing anyone eating or drinking in the store. Meaning that all of the customers can’t walk around sipping on their drinks browsing for two hours. They can just get it on the way out. A lot of people are ok with this. But I’ve seen so many angrily walk away after we point to the 6 signs posted. It’s like I’m sorry but it’s not worth getting sick. Honestly through watching recorded meltdowns on reddit and personal on the floor experiences, people have really been losing their minds here in the US. Or at least inside of grocery and retail stores.
basicallymad 2 points 3y ago
Yeah... this pandemic is really revealing a lot about general American society that I think has been pretty eye-opening. I'm really sorry you have to constantly deal with these types of customers. I heard the anti-maskers in Texas are insane too... hang in there!!
Koalastars009 1 points 3y ago
Nothing too bad. I also keep thinking that people are responsible for their own actions regardless of their environment. I’m just assuming the crazy people are just having a really stressful day. At this point I’m realistically thinking it might be a year before things get better. Being optimistic is the best way to go about it :)
holdenthesecoronas 6 points 3y ago
i feel this on a spiritual level. every. goddam. day. also i love your user name
raptoraptorr 3 points 3y ago
Lmao when I’m the only person on bar and there’s 1 person as dto and dtr then yeah each and every customer is about to learn a lesson in patience
