I was so afraid of that happening, which was why I separated. I also have extreme asthma. I'm so sorry :( I hope you can work out some boundaries with your SM and maybe you can apply for partial unemployment?

I chose to take the COVID leave as well because of asthma and my manager straight up told me they were not able to honor any of those preferences. I had already started a medical leave so I was able to take a medical leave but I now have to pay for my insurance and other out of pocket expenses. Kind of a bummer but at least I don’t have to worry about catching the COVID from slanging Frappuccinos at jerks all day.

I have severe asthma too and had the CAT pay an extra month because of it. It sucks that people with asthma aren’t exactly being treated the best during this whole thing.

That’s messed up, I’m so sorry! Nobody seems to take medical issues that seriously!

Same, I have to help open a mall store that’s been closed since March and may not be able to transfer back to my home store afterwards 🙃

I dont understand why they would do that. Apparently its happening to other baristas but why would they call knowing you shpuldnt be available. Are they aware of your health condition? Is your manager an asshole?

Wasn’t that the condition of the LOA though? It’s a leave until they need you back
plasticapples_3 points3y ago
Yeah. It stated that you would be on a LOA until they had the business to support your average hours or until sept. 30th. Whichever came first.

They call people back because it was one of the conditions of taking Covid LoA. If the store needs you they can recall you back with 1-2 week notice.
