Need advice about transferring/new job (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by dancing_durian
It would seem that every store is experiencing a lot of hardships and morale in general is low. But my store is just getting worse and worse. Being a shift and a good listener/somewhat neutral advice dispenser, people trust me and I have eyes and ears pretty much throughout the store. Based on some information I’ve received, my store is heading towards what can only be described as a fiery car crash on top of an Exxon spill.

I’ve seen some posts on here about partners transferring so it seems like nothing is really static. Anybody transferring or has transferred has any advice? Anybody jumped ship to another job? What did you go for and any advice?

Please help. Thank you all in advance.

I don’t know what advice you specifically need, but I know that as a shift I absolutely needed to rewire my thoughts to not care about work. The company doesn’t care abt the individual, they only care abt money and maintaining a squeaky clean reputation. You have to do what is best for you, be it a transfer if you actually like the job and think there is a better store out there, or finally leaving everything altogether. Personally, I wanted to stay bc I had rlly good friendships, but we all got so burnt out and most quit after I had alrdy locked in my preference one. Combined w a manager who can’t communicate and a DM who is so mean and inexperienced, I knew that transferring wasn’t an option for me personally, because if I didn’t leave I would’ve stayed for another year and it would’ve only gotten worse. I’m putting in my two weeks tomorrow and while I’m leaving my store (the busiest in the district) with maybe four shifts, I can’t rlly b bothered to care bc it’s what will make me happier in the long run and it’s just coffee, and I’m sure starbucks won’t miss me lol

Good luck!!

Thank you for your advice. Best of luck to you. That’s how I feel too especially after the preferences have already been finalized. I’ve already applied elsewhere but still within Starbucks. Here’s hoping those would pan out.
