Already called back into work... (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by PossibleWishbone1
Sooooo...

I know they said there was a probability we might get called back in earlier than September but...I literally just left work two weeks ago. TWO WEEKS.

As far as I’m concerned, the virus is still in affect. Hell, we’re already in the second wave if nobody wants to admit it.

I’m not going back. I should have chosen option 3. As a matter of fact, I already have started searching for other jobs. This is ridiculous...

Just remember that if you quit, you won’t be eligible for unemployment anymore.

I heard if I deny coming in then they would terminate me, instead. Can I put my two weeks in while I’m still on a “break?” I really don’t feel comfortable going back.

Whether you deny coming in or put your two weeks doesn’t matter. It’s voluntary quit either way and you won’t be eligible for unemployment.

Welp. It was fun while it lasted...

I looked around and saw coworkers tugging at their masks, not following handwashing guidelines, touching cash/cards and then touching blenders.

I took option 3.

Starbucks is doing a fine job of introducing new safety rules for the pandemic, but if the employees don't follow those rules, what good is it? A second wave would obviously come, because people are acting like the virus stopped existing.

I feel you on that! And if it’s not the baristas NOT following proper guidelines, it’s the customers. You literally cannot win. I can’t wait to leave...

I regret not taking option three so much. You are prime

I have a second income that I built long before the pandemic. It's not consistent enough (yet!) to replace a part time job. I also didn't have health insurance or other benefits. Most baristas probably can't afford to lose a consistent paycheck and health insurance.

But even then, I was ready to take option 2 until they told me they could force me to come back at any moment, and with option 3, that I would be eligible for rehire. That sealed the deal.

Stay safe in there, y'all. Sanitize literally everything that might be touched - handles (fridges, cabinets, buttons, taps, scoops (especially those coffee scoops our store never washed). Act responsible for your own health, because your coworkers aren't necessarily looking out for you. And refresh your sani buckets!

Did you get your severance package yet? I picked option 3 too and I still haven’t gotten my money 😭😭😭
