Okay I’m FINALLLY getting promoted but I am getting like two days of training total, idk if that’s normal. But my promotion is super rushed cuz one of our shifts are leaving

Anyway, any advice or tips or anything to bring a shift? Or like anything online I can use to study/get ahead?

Run breaks/finish tasking when you’re best staffed even if people complain. At my old store mornings/early parts of mids were the best staffed but sometimes the shifts would delay breaks and we’d get so backed up/overwhelmed once openers left. In my experience people like to take their breaks later in the shift but this isn’t always realistic. Partners might complain to you but it’s your shift and your decision. Same with cleaning. Openers/mids were rarely expected to clean or complete tasking even when they had the partners to do it. People would complain when I came in and made them clean lol but as someone who primarily closed it’s really important that mids keep up with dishes/backups because stuff like that can really set back closes (which were typically not as well staffed).

What helped me was setting boundaries with partners. I really liked everyone I worked with and we got along well but I didn’t let us being friends get in the way of the job. Put your foot down from the start and establish mutual respect. Be willing to work hard yourself and work with them. Best of luck!

What day part will you be because that will greatly depend on what you’ll do and the answers you’ll get.

Since I’m a closing shift, I might not be all that helpful. I’ve worked some morning and mids as baristas. From my understanding, both morning and closing have what I call a ‘deadline’ or ‘count down clock’ that will determine what happens before and after that particular time. For morning, that’s 11am. That’s the cutoff time for your daily order. Must you submit before 11am and will there be a terrible consequence if you happen to forget or didn’t have time to get to it? Not really. Starbucks has a failsafe in place where things on computer will submit a report/order/count based on what the system comes up with. So if you happen to not get to the order, what will come will be like a grab bag where your store might not get everything you need.

The biggest thing personally, for me, as a closing shift that had to cover some morning shifts in the past, is running breaks. Making sure everybody gets their breaks and run them as to not interfere with business. You will tend to have more people in the morning and as much of a dream as that sounds, the more people, the more breaks to run. And most likely, everyone on your shift will need a 30 so 2 breaks per person.

That’s as far as I can tell you. If you work mid, please try your best to set up your closers.

Last thing, it’s down to communications. If your team is always open to communication and honest feedbacks, talk to them. Ask your baristas on your shifts what they would like to see. Ask your closers what they need from you. And likewise, tell them what your expectations are.

And before I forget, congrats on your promotions :)
